We have been enjoying writing our own books ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ and are looking forward to sharing our books with everyone tomorrow!
In Forest school, we are learning to look after nature.
We went on a nature hunt, sang forest songs and played in nature.
We placed bird houses throughout the trees to provide homes and food for wild birds during the cold winter.
We have planted some wild flower seeds to create a wild flower garden provide a home for more wildlife.
We have been comparing our local environment with The Amazon Jungle and learning to THINK LOCAL, ACT GLOBAL.
Primary 1 made potato salad in the learning lab.
To make the potato salad we used
-Potatoes
-Chives
-Parsley
-Mint
-Salad Cream
-Vinegar
On Thursday 1st March 2018 we will be celebrating World Book Day in School by encouraging all children to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character!
We will also spend this week completing different book related activities in class and holding whole school DEAR times! We’ve also asked the pupils to find and be photographed in the strangest place to read a book!

Here are some snapshots of our learning this term.
We have been Learning all about the Polar Regions. We were very excited to receive a letter from Maxie the Polar Bear and couldn’t wait to find out all about his home The Artic!
We enjoyed writing our own books all about the Snowy animals living in the Artic.
In Numeracy we have been learning to identify o’clock times on a digital and analogue clock and love sharing the time on our class clock.

The Primary 1 and 2 Nativity this year was called Angel Express. The children enjoyed learning the songs and learning their parts.
When asked what the children liked about being in the nativity this is what some of them said –
-I liked having a speaking part, I learnt how to be an actor.
-I liked being on the big stage and having an audience.
-I learnt about the story of baby Jesus.

On Thursday the 7th of September an information afternoon was held for all Primary 1 parents. The purpose of the afternoon was to share with our parents how we teach Reading, Writing and Mental Maths. Here is a copy of the Power point presentation which was used.
