Below are some additional literacy tasks which you may wish to try out. You may choose to do these instead of the ones posted on the weekly ‘post’ or as an extra activity.
The tasks are divided into;
‘Reading and Listening‘ These are a mixture of looking at books, thinking about rhymes and playing games to help with phonemes and common words.
‘Writing’ These are tasks to encourage your child to write by providing a reason for writing.
Supporting your child to write:
Tasks;
Writing names of family and friends
‘Talk for Writing’ These tasks combine all aspects of literacy and should be worked through steadily, at your child’s pace. They are very good but will take a little longer to work through. They begin with a story and the tasks then relate to the story.

These are taken from the BBC bitesize website. The link will take you to an extract of the book used and then will suggest follow activities. A grown up will have to help with the reading and the activity can be a discussion rather than written.
