Homework 25.11.19

This week we will be learning the phonemes c, k and ck.  These phonemes have the same sound and the same action!

Our new spelling words are can, we, into.  A new  list will be sent home today to add to your collection.  Please keep practising all the words, reading them and writing them.

We are continuing to make new words with the phonemes learnt so far and the children are becoming more confident with using the phonemes they know.

Library Visits

Those children that had their book bags today will have a library book in their school bag.  They can change it for a new book next Monday.  If your child forgot their book bag today they will get the opportunity to go along next Monday, as long as they have their book bag!  If the book bag is lost and you would like your child to go to the school library then please send in £1 on Monday (preferable in an envelope marked Library book bag) and they will get a new one.

Many thanks.

Homework 18.11.19

We will spend this short week consolidating the phonemes e and d and the spelling words as, did and he.   The children are also beginning to write short sentences using the spelling words learnt and also by creating new words with the phonemes learnt.  The sentences are read aloud (slowly) and the children have a go at writing them.  Examples of these are;

The ant is in the pan.

It is in a pan.

I sat on an ant.

The ant is on the pan.

Also on Wednesday we will be walking around Burnside and then walking to Overtoun Park.  As it is very cold please ensure your child is wearing warm clothes, with a hat and gloves.

Many thanks

Homework 11/11/19

Our new phonemes and spelling words for the next 2 weeks are:

d and e

as, he , did

Please practise these and use some of the suggestions on the above tab to help with ideas.  Also use the list of words to help your child to read and to write the spelling words.

We will continue with 2 reading books each week and we are now on the red reading level.  The tab on ‘reading’  displays the types of reading behaviours we will be looking for, please take a moment to read over these.

In order for me to keep tabs on the reading books (50 in a week!) the children are asked to place their reading books into their trays each morning in order that I can quickly check for any books which have been forgotten or left in bags.   I am grateful for your help in sending books into school each day and appreciate that at times they will be left at home.   Unfortunately, books do get left in bags and are in school ( unknown to me and despite being asked) and so a  blue form will be issued.  Blue forms enable me to keep track of where books are.

Class Hamper

As you would have seen in the recent letter, Room 1 are the ‘chocolate hamper’  please send in any chocolate items for the hamper into class with your child.

Library Visits

Mondays will usually be Room 1’s time for visiting the school library.  Unfortunately there was not enough time today for this to happen, so our first visit will be on Monday 25th November.  Your child will need their book bag or £1 (if it is lost) to keep the book in.

Many thanks for your support

Homework 4/11/19

This week we will be consolidating the phonemes ‘r’ and ‘m’ and the spelling words; me, my and am.

Please continue to practice these this week, especially the spelling words as many children are finding them tricky.  We will continue to practise them in class and we will also go over previous phonemes and spelling words.

Wishing you a happy and safe fireworks evening tomorrow.
