Learning Access From Home

Primary 3 (Miss Freeland)

Week Beginning 22nd June 2020

Well boys and girls, it’s the last few days of school before the summer holidays so I thought you deserved to go on a virtual school trip!
We are going to…
 EDINBURGH ZOO!
Using the link below, you can virtually visit the zoo, see many of the animals on a live webcam, play some fun games and do some great activities!
I have also created a grid of extra zoo-tastic activities for you to complete at your leisure. You do not have to complete them all and you could even save some for during the summer holidays!
Remember the last few days of school are lots of fun. You have worked hard this year and I hope you enjoy your virtual trip to the zoo!
Although we won’t be altogether on a bus for our trip, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some traditional bus-journey songs!
For example; “You canny shove your granny off the bus” or “The back/front of the bus canny sing” or “The wheels on the bus”.
Have a zoo-per time at the zoo!
Don’t forget your packed lunch and no… we’re not nearly there yet!

2020-06-16 Parent-Carer Letter

Week beginning 08/06/20 and 15/06/20

Good Morning Primary 3!

The countdown to summer has begun! Only 2 and a half weeks left (12.5 days). I know this is usually an exciting time with lots of fun activities taking place in school.

The tasks for the next 2 weeks will have a ‘Here Comes Summer’ theme. There are two grids filled with numeracy, literacy and other fun tasks for you to complete. You can complete them in any order and can chose as many as you like. There are enough tasks to complete two per day, but this is up to you.

I would still love to see what you are getting up to and look at all your hard work so please continue to send completed work or pictures to gw19auchinraithhl@glow.sch.uk. Remember I will be online between 2pm-3pm every day to answer any questions, comments and give work feedback on the Blog.

Have a great week and see below for a special challenge! 🌟

Miss Freeland 

Primary 3 Crazy Kite Class Challenge

In addition to the task grids we have decided to make a class competition with a prize awarded to the best entry!

Our class challenge is to design a kite using different craft materials. You can use things you already have in the house or from outside.

  • Find out how to make different kite designs.
  • Plan and draw a diagram of your crazy kite. Label the materials you will need to make each part.
  • Collect the materials you will need.
  • Create your crazy kite to look like your plan.
  • Check your crazy kite meets the criteria.
  • Give a presentation, explaining how you combined materials to make your kite.
  • Test your kite to see if it flies in the wind.

Send in pictures/videos/plans of your entry to gw19auchinraithhl@glow.sch.uk by 3pm on Friday the 19th of June.

Good luck and may the best kite win!

Completed Work

We are aware of the need for children and parents to have the facility to email completed work to class teachers. All completed work should be sent to gw19auchinraithhl@glow.sch.uk

Please ensure your child’s name and class are both included in the subject heading. All communications/messages should continue to be sent through the Blog. This glow email account is only for completed work which can be in the form of photographs or word documents.

I look forward to seeing all your fabulous hard work, please look out for feedback about your work in the comments section of the Blog.

Week Beginning 01/06/20

Good Morning boys and girls,

Can you believe today is the 1st of June? Not long left now until we officially finish for the summer holidays so keep up the great work!

This week is the same layout as last week but with different tasks to complete. Remember, if it is a written task please complete the work in your jotters or on some paper if you run out of space.

Try to complete a higher spice level than last week if you didn’t choose the hottest one! There are more games to play each day and some video clips to watch to help explain some things. There are also some examples of mental addition, mental subtraction and mental multiplicaton strategies in the resources page if you would like a wee reminder. Miss Bell also has some fun Health and Wellbeing/PE activities planned for you so remember to visit her page too.

If you have any questions please leave me a message on our class page and I will get back to you. It would be great if you could send any completed work to gw19auchinraithhl@glow.sch.uk and I will post some feedback in the comments section of the Blog between 2-3pm. Let’s hope the sun stays out again this week and we can enjoy more days in the garden!

Miss Freeland 🙂
