This morning we had a fantastic coding session with DYW. There were lots of difficult instructions to follow but we made it. We made a game where the shark had to try to dodge plastic and catch fish.

Today as a treat for working hard in maths this term, Ms Scanlan gave the class some more problem solving games. It was great fun, the P6/7 s are so good at giving everything a go and concentrating hard on finding solutions.

This afternoon we continued on with our energy topic by looking at how pneumatic systems work.
We used two syringes, some tubing, a burger box, a paper cup and a pipe cleaner. We have made our model and they all open and close using pneumatics. We just need to paint and decorate them…watch this space!
My maths group has worked so hard over the last few weeks on all the different topics, that today we decided to have a fun session where they could choose to play a range of maths / problem solving / logical thinking games. It was lovely to watch all the skills demonstrated and see how well everyone worked together or on their own. There was some real determination shown especially for some of the shape tasks.
In September three boys took part in the Scottish Maths Challenge, where people take part all around Scotland. It was very challenging for the three boys involved but they all really enjoyed it. We sent the results in and are waiting for the results and scores to come back. All the challenges were challenging.
