Today Jenny came in to teach us a very old traditional ballad and them we got back to the straw hats.
We had to knot them in a row and then we joined it to make our hats.

We had a super morning with Jenny Sturgeon and Roseanne Watt, who are coming into school for four weeks to do a dialect / Shetland history project with us. Jenny started by singing a song for us and Roseanne recited a poem.
We did two activities, firstly we learnt a dialect song about spinning and then we started to make our skekler hats. We will finish them next week.

On Wednesday we had a really lovely morning. Lots of family and friends came to watch the dialect singing that Maria Barclay has been doing with each class. It all sounded really wonderful and we enjoyed homebakes afterwards.

Primary 6 really enjoyed making peat for the dialect event.

Primary 6/7 enjoyed their first session of dialect singing in Wednesday, with Maria Millar.
