Pupil Council Elections

This week, we held our Pupil Council Elections.  The class have been learning about Democracy with Mrs Henderson so having the elections at the same time was a great way to put what they’ve learned about, into action!

Over the past few weeks, the class have prepared for the day by making voting slips, making a ballot box and private voting area.  Those not involved in speeches were assigned different roles on the day.

Preparing the ballot box

The pupils standing for election all prepared their speeches at home.  These were delivered with confidence and enthusiasm!  Well done to all!

The P6 pupils all prepared and ready to speak to the voting public!

The P7s had a slightly longer wait to deliver their speeches but put in a great effort too!

When the speeches were done, the voting started!

The votes were counted by Dylan and Lucille and they were able to congratulate Alec and Lauren who are our P7 Pupil Council representatives and Archie and Callum who will act on behalf of the P6 pupils.

Well done to all involved!

That’s been a quick term!  Happy October holidays one and all!

Scottish Parliament visit

Angela McGarrigle , an education officer from the Scottish parliament came to visit P6/7 and P5/6 today. She explained a lot of things about the Scottish Parliament and how it works. We had a class election. Each group had to decide on their party leader and then write their manifesto. The party leaders then spoke to the class to try to persuade them to vote for their party.

The parties were –

animal welfare

computers

music

save the earth

schools

sporty

Well done to all the speakers, great ideas from all the parties. It was a very close election, but in the end the Save the Earth party won, with Animal Welfare a very close second. Well done everyone!
