Christmas Concert

This afternoon, we had our first Christmas concert and P7 were fantastic. Well done to everyone and especially to Mrs Inkster for all her help. The class started with Merry Christmas Eveyone. The instrumentalists played beautifully and the singers were superb. Then everyone sang Little Drummer Boy, Issac sang a solo, while Hannah played the keyboard. It all sounded wonderful.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE  🎄

You’ve still got time to see it tonight at 7.

STEM 3

Today is our final STEM session.

We started off by doing a sort activity about different types of energy.

Then we made a solar and wind farm.

Robert Leask really enjoyed making the power sources with Toby, Roman and Daniel.

Faith said “ It was really good fun to see how many volts our model generated – it was 4 volts!”

Isaac said “I liked fiddling around with all the little pieces. “

Mia especially enjoyed building the wind turbines.

BBC Radio Scotland Junior Historians

What a great day we are having, with Rhona Brudenell from BBC Scotland and Davie Gardner from Radio Shetland making a Junior Historian radio programme, about the Braer.

We are having lots of visitors in to talk to us and we have learned all about the Braer disaster. We have been learning how to ask good questions to find out the most interesting information.

The visitors today were Jonathan Wills, Helen Moncreiff, Jim Budge, Sheila Fowlie and Mary Blance.

Carla – It has been really good fun, we have learnt a lot.

Becca – It’s quite nerve racking peaking into a microphone.

Isaiah – I have really enjoyed listening to their stories, it’s been fun learning, like a treat!

Hari-Lou – It’s a bit odd, but exciting.

Robert B – I’m really looking forward to hearing it on the radio.

French Food

This afternoon we had a great time trying a few traditional French foods, that our Cannes pen pals eat. We tried baguettes, Camembert, Brie, Boursin, blue cheese, green and black olives, croissants, chocolate crepes and profiteroles .

Tryphena, Joanna, Mirrin and Faith helped to set everything out and kept everyone fed!

It was great to see lots of the class trying new foods and even enjoying them!

SMUHA WEEK

What a fantastic week we had last week.

Mrs Henderson had organised a busy week of activities including a visit from the NSPCC, Traditional dance with Maria Leask, a museum visit and activities with Stephen and Esther Renwick and Art and craft with Mrs Leslie. There were also lots of SMUHA activities including making the programme, key rings, home bakes and making sure that all the squads were ready.

Shane (Bjorn Ironsides) and his P7 squad led the procession and we were so lucky with the weather. We had a great time in the Boddam hall, with all the entertainments and the visit from the SMUHA squad.
