This morning Mrs Mercyline Masika Kiti came to talk to us about Kenya. She told us about school life, taught us about food and animals in Kenya and showed us how to count up to 10 and say a few common words and phrases.
Victoria said “I found the talk very interesting and what she did at school and as a child. She also taught us some common Swahili. I am looking forward to making chapattis.”
“It was really interesting telling us about her child hood, and that you had to wear your uniform , and I’d love to go and see life in Kenya for myself” said Carys.
After our lesson on bannock making with Edith Leslie on Monday, we had a great afternoon making them ourselves. We all enjoyed eating them too and hopefully some of you at home will have tasted them, if they didn’t get eaten on the way home 🙂
Primary 6 have been working hard in the last few weeks to do their Playleader training. They have been learning to lead activities and help the younger children to play games and have fun together.
All the Primary 6/7 class are working hard to learn a few phrases in Mandarin and we are starting to write in Mandarin too. Today we watched a film about 3 monks, it was very funny and showed us the importance of working together.
On Monday 5th September Edith Leslie came to teach Primary 7 how to make bannocks. She also brought us some treacle bannocks, oatcakes, plain bannocks and Welsh cakes to taste. We had a great morning and we’re looking forward to having a go ourselves on Wednesday.
Here are a few things that the Primary 7s said afterwards.
‘The bannocks were good and it was fun learning how to make them.’ Kyle
‘I am really looking forward to making the bannocks on Wednesday and to eating them!’ said Lauren.
‘It was nice to have Edith make some bannocks and other treats, I hope she comes back.’ Victoria.
The Primary 6s have been really enjoying Bikeability and they are getting really good at being safe on the roads. Thanks to Ruth Christie who has been helping Louise Jamieson every Monday morning.
While the Primary 6s are doing Playleader training and Bikeability, Primary 7 have had a chance to do some cooking. We are going to be sharing our recipes with Olenguruone school in Kenya. The first week we made leek and tattie soup and this week we made cheese, plain and fruit scones. They tasted delicious!
So here they are, the wonderful, fun loving new P6/7s Just another blogs.glowscotland.org.uk – Shetland site
