On Wednesday in Week 2 of Term 4, we managed to get outside lots with the lovely weather. We did our maths lesson outside and practiced some different skills we’ve learned over the year. We first played a game called “Decimals War” on whiteboards which helps us with place value. This is something we do inside too. Then we learned a game called “Nim” which comes from ancient China. We had to collect 20 pebbles in pairs and pick up 1, 2 or 3 pebbles in turns, aiming not to be the person to pick up the last pebble. There was a strategy to it which was quite tricky to figure out. This was focused on problem solving. Then we did a game with bean bags and hoops which focused on adding and multiplying. Finally, we did a relay race in two teams where we had to answer a multiplication question in order to be able to run back and hand over to the next person in our team. Hopefully the nice weather continues and we can keep getting outside!
