This morning we have been very active in our maths. We are just starting a block on addition and subtraction so have played games to revise our mental maths skills and refresh number bonds. By keeping these strong, we will be able to apply our learning to bigger sums.
In this game, each cone had a value (not that we knew that until the race was over!)We had to relay with our partners to collect cones, when the time was up, each colour of cone was given a value, we then had to add the totals of our cones up to see who won it’s the highest score.
In our classroom, we have worked together to form our class charter. This is how we want our learning environment to be, and would like everyone that comes in to our class to follow this too.
Today in Primary 6/7 we have been working with Mrs Wells from the Education Outreach Service to start a 6 week block learning British Sign Language.
We have given thought to all the different ways we communicate and how important they are. We’ve found out that communication is so much more than sound, and we have looked at the importance of facial expressions.
Welcome back to all the pupils today, it has been lovely seeing everyone back, and has felt like a happy place to be.
Primary 6/7 have had a day of settling back into school life today, we created self portraits to add to our collections that have been growing since we drew them in nursery. We then animated our portraits which caused a fair bit of amusement for us all.
We have started to think about building our own arcade machines, which is going to challenge us to use lots of problem solving skills over the next few days.
We have given thought to what we want to learn in our topic on Rainforests and Biodiversity, then finished the day with some games outside.
Over the last few weeks we have been working hard on personal research topics on areas of history that interested us.
We held a sharing afternoon with P4/5/6 yesterday, looking at their work too.
It was lovely to see everyone take such pride in their work and to see so many creative ways of displaying work. Continue reading Personal Topics→
Today, we have had a visit from Hannah Anderson, who works for Dogs Against Drugs. We have learned about what the charity does to help keep us all safe.
They have an amazing team of very clever dogs, who are highly trained to sniff out illegal substances. Hannah brought in her dog, Hera to meet us too! https://www.dogsagainstdrugs.co.uk
