iPads!

P4s have all received their iPads today. It was very exciting! All passcodes have been changed to pupil birthdays (day/month/year) eg (020413)

Most pupils have a charger but unfortunately, we were a few short. Pupils who have an older sibling with an iPad may not have a charger yet. They should share the charger with their sibling but new chargers have been ordered & will be sent home as soon as possible.

Pupils should make sure they charger their iPads each night and bring them into school each day. 🙂

P4a’s Quentin Blake inspired art work

Today we looked at some of Quentin Blakes illustrations and had a go at creating our own cartoon style faces using some of his techniques.
We did some very quick sketches using some of the facial features he uses. We then put a watercolour wash over them and finally added the detail back in using a fine black ink pen.
I think the results are fantastic. The tidying up wasn’t too bad either. 😉

Welcome to P4a

Welcome to P4a

What a busy start to the term we have had.

The children have all settled in brilliantly and it is so lovely to see them all ready to learn every morning.

We will use this page to share some of our learning with you and to give you links to various websites with games or activities you might like to do to support the learning taking place in class. (See the useful links tab)

We will also share the spelling words each week and hopefully we’ll have some super photo’s we can share with you too.

The children may have been talking about our class novel – Georges Marvellous Medicine, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed the story so far and we’ve had some good fun coming up with adjectives to describe Grandma and George.  We have been acting out some scenes from the book, creating  some dialogue of our own and recording it as a play script.  We are also looking at Quentin Blake’s style of illustration and using that to create some wonderful artwork of our own. (we’ll share that with you shortly).

In the mean time, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and keep an eye on the blog for more information.

Back to School!

It was lovely to welcome everyone back to school last week. We thought about what makes each of us special and wrote special things about each other on ‘capes’ on our back. It was great to see all the comments when we took our capes off! We read a book called ‘Unstoppable Me!’  Which gave us ideas about how to be resilient.

Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone in P3 for the lovely gifts & very generous voucher for Stobo Castle.  We have both really enjoyed this year & are very proud of how hard both classes have worked. We hope you all have a lovely summer holiday!

Picnic fun

Thank you so much to the kitchen staff for these amazing Kingsland festival cupcakes. Don’t they look yummy?

We are looking forward to having our special picnic and playing with our bottle of bubbles.

Ice monsters

We set up an experiment to discover where our ice monsters evaporated the fastest? Would it  be the monster beside the warm radiator or the monster by the window?

Final conclusion – the ice monster melted to water then evaporated the most by the window. So, the sun must be very hot ! There was hardly any water left in our water bag that was by the window.
