P4a Show and Tell

In class, we are working on talking and listening skills.  Starting after the Easter break we are planning to do a block of ‘Show and Tell’ where you can talk about a special object. You have been given a slot to do your short talk in class. The timetable of slots is posted below.

To prepare for this, you should take a photo of your special object on your iPad. The object should not be brought into school.

To help them with their talk, children should consider the following points:

  • What is the object?
  • Where did you get it?
  • What do you do with it?
  • Why is it special to you?

You can add more information on your object if they want to. You can practice your talk at home to help with your confidence.

Peebles CAN garden visit.

P4a had a brilliant time at the Peebles CAN garden last week.  Heather and Rachel taught us so much about various herbs and plants.  We were asked to plant some peas and a few varieties of hedgerow plants.  We learned how to space them out, how to support them as they got bigger and how to protect them whilst they were still small.

If you would like to keep an eye on the progress of our seedlings and plants, Peebles CAN would be delighted to welcome you back at any time.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Peebles CAN and to our parent helpers.  We wouldn’t have been able to attend the gardens without you offering us  your time.

We are all unique

We have been thinking about how unique and special we are in Health and Wellbeing. This week, we were given a potato. We had to look at the potato to notice what made it unique. We then had to put all of the potatoes into the middle of the circle and find our own one. Most of us managed to find our potato. We discussed how special we all are and how we should be proud of the things that make us unique. We also talked about respecting others’ differences. We looked at a Dr Seuss quote about being proud of our uniqueness. ‘Today you are you, that is truer than true, There is nobody else Youer than you.’

School outing letter

The children in P4 have brought home a consent letter for an outing to the Peebles CAN garden on Tuesday 15th March (P4a) and Tuesday 22nd March (P4b).

We would appreciate it if these could be returned as soon as possible.  We will aim to get back to any P4a volunteers by Friday 11th March and P4b volunteers next week.

Many thanks
