We have taken the decision to no longer use X (Twitter) and will return to using the school website blog to share information. Please explore the site to find out more about our approach to developing the 6 global competencies – The 6Cs and thinking with a Growth Mindset. There are ideas for supporting your child at home along with school policies and information about the school.
P7 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Dolphin House. A week of abseiling, paddleboarding, caving, beach cleaning and exploring Culzean. We learned new skills and achieved the John Muir Award.
We had lots of fun at our Halloween Discos last night. There were some very creative costumes! A huge thank-you goes out to the Parents and Carers Voice and the parents that helped to organise and support the event.
P3 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Westpark Farm in Coylton. they learned all about dairy farming and even got to sit in the tractor!
A huge well done goes to our P6 class for organising and leading our Shoe Box appeal to collect items for young people in the Ukraine for Christmas. They wrote letters, put up posters in the local area and even put together a radio advert. Thank you to everyone who donated to this important cause.
Well done to our amazing P3s. They delivered our Harvest Service last week at the Auld Kirk linked to all the work they had been learning about in class on farming. We also welcomed our friends from Southcraig who performed with our P5s. Well done to you all.
Congratulations to one of our football players. She was recently signed for Kilmarnock Girls U10s. What a fantastic achievement – well done!

We still managed to hold our Sports Day this year by keeping all the classes apart. Castlehill were the overall winners on the day but we think all of our pupils are superstars! Thanks to Emma, our Active Sports Co-ordinator for helping out too.
We now have our new trim trail in the playground and we hope it will support all our pupils’ physical and mental health as they return to school. It is certainly a hit with our P1 -P3 pupils!

Unfortunately we cannot host our usual competition and technology is making it very difficult to upload. So we will be having a Burns celebration this week with poetry recitals on Friday. Primary 6 and Primary 7 have been taking part in Bikeability training over the past few weeks at Level 1 and Level 2. Even the rain hasn’t stopped them developing their skills in cycling – building up to cycling safely on the roads! Many thanks go to the volunteers and parents that have supported us in this.

During Maths Week Scotland, we let you know about a national photographic maths competition, ‘Oot an’ Aboot’, organised by the University of Glasgow. One of our pupils took part in the competition and was a runner-up and had another entry highly commended – well done to Lillyanna for her excellent mathematical thinking and questioning. She received an Amazon voucher and certificates during an online award ceremony last week.
