The whole school enjoyed an afternoon of dancing to raise money for the school. Each class demonstrated their dance before the whole school tried it out with dances ranging from Choo Choo Wah and Superman to the Macarena. One of the highlights was the staff performance of YMCA (photos for this are unfortunately unavailable!). A huge thanks goes to everyone that sponsored the pupils and Mrs Parkhill and Mrs Young for organising.
Primary 5 had great fun learning about the Scottish Wars of Independence at Dundonald Castle. The learned how to sword fight and about life in the 1300s. What a great experience!
Our P5, 6 and 7 had great fun this morning at Nick Morgan’s ‘No Scotland, No Party!’ Tour to celebrate Scotland taking part in this year’s World Cup in America! We then joined in with football related games on the Low Green – thanks to Thriving Communities for organising. Here’s hoping for some great results this month! Come on Scotland!
P7 had a fantastic time at the Rotary Club’s Primary Careers Fayre today at Ayr Town Hall. They had the opportunity to find out about different career paths and the skills that are required in different jobs including chefs, engineers, pilots, NHS positions and ecology to name just a few. In fact there were over 30 careers represented. It was a fantastic experience. Huge thanks go to the Rotary Club for organising this annual event.
Well done to our Euroquiz team. They had a great time today at the town hall taking part in the South Ayrshire Euroquiz Competition. They demonstrated their knowledge of the languages and cultures of different European Countries and had a lot of fun. Well done to you all.
We had a lot of fun this afternoon at our STEM open event. With the help of family members, each class tried out different STEM activities. There was a great buzz around the school and lots of smiling faces. What a fantastic way to end British Science Week.
Two of our P7s had a great time performing an extract from Tam O’Shanter at the P7 Burns Supper at Ayr Town Hall on Tuesday. They enjoyed the full Burns Supper experience with their P7 peers from across the authority. The event was
fully funded and supported by Alloway Burns Club.
Well done to all the pupils who took part in the Girlguiding Ayrshire South, 100 years of Thinking Day Parade in Ayr on Sunday. They had a great time.
P7 had a visit from the Heart Start Team. They were taught how to put people into the recovery position and how to perform CPR. We all have the power to make a difference. By taking the time to learn these skills they could save a life one day.
Well done to all our winners at our annual Burns Competition. The standard was incredibly high again this year. Well done to our overall winner who receives a book of Burns Poems from the Market Inn Burns Club. Several of our pupils also recited their poems to the congregation at the Auld Kirk Burns Supper Lunch on Sunday – we were very proud of them.
A huge well done goes to our P6 class for organising and leading our Shoe Box appeal to collect items for young people in the Ukraine for Christmas. They wrote letters, put up posters in the local area and even put together a radio advert. Thank you to everyone who donated to this important cause.
