P7 had a fantastic time at the Rotary Club’s Primary Careers Fayre today at Ayr Town Hall. They had the opportunity to find out about different career paths and the skills that are required in different jobs including chefs, engineers, pilots, NHS positions and ecology to name just a few. In fact there were over 30 careers represented. It was a fantastic experience. Huge thanks go to the Rotary Club for organising this annual event.

Expert Diver Visit to P5
P5 welcomed Brian Millarvie, a local scuba diving instructor and enthusiast, who gave a fabulous presentation all about scuba diving and how it is done. We all listened very respectfully and asked lots of interesting questions. Mr Millarvie demonstrated all of the different pieces of equipment and how they all work. Some of our learners are counting the days until they are 12 and can join a local club!

P5 Associated British Ports Visitors
As part of their work on the Sea Story project, P5 were very happy to welcome some members of the team from ABP (Associated British Ports). We learned about how the Ports of Ayr and Troon operate, what they transport and who works there. We learned about how things are moved from boat to port and back again and how this is organised. We were very interested to learn about Pilots, who go out to all of the boats entering the port and help steer them in. We had lots of questions but our new friends were happy to share their knowledge.

Burns Competition Winners January 2026
Well done to all our winners at our annual Burns Competition. The standard was incredibly high again this year. Well done to our overall winner who receives a book of Burns Poems from the Market Inn Burns Club. Several of our pupils also recited their poems to the congregation at the Auld Kirk Burns Supper Lunch on Sunday – we were very proud of them.
