Today we had a quick introduction to Judo from Jack. We learned how to sit like a Judo player and responded to some Japanese commands. We had a go at some simple moves and ended by playing monkey tig.
Samuel- I liked playing monkey tig, it was so fun.
Aleksander- I liked the mat and we had no socks on.
Today the p7 and p1 class paired up for some ‘buddy gym.’ We worked together to set up a few different stations- we had a gymnastics station, football station, throwing station and tennis station. The p7s were very good at demonstrating and supporting the p1s, and the p1s worked so well and listened carefully to their helpers.
P7 have asked if we can do this again. We will work in groups to plan really efficient lessons and then will teach these to our buddies.
Take a look at our beautiful Chinese Dragon! Primary 2/3 and 3/4 worked together to create this masterpiece. This artwork will be submitted to the Inspired Exhibition at the Tannahill centre. We are all so proud of it!
Last week was all about Robert Burns. We learned lots about his life through our reading comprehension task and also through independent research. We used this information to create fantastic biographies about his life. Later in the week, we used Robert Burns’ poems to inspire us with our own poem writing. We rounded off our week by reciting some Burns poems and songs. To hear our performances, check out our SeeSaw profile!
Today we had our Scottish Open Morning and it was a huge success. We invited out families into our classroom and it was a fantastic turn out. We visited a range of Scottish themed work stations such as tartan making and Scottish food tasting. We then moved into the hall and performed our Scottish dance and songs. The feedback was excellent.
To celebrate Robert Burns Day, Primary 3/4 have been learning traditional Scottish dances. They performed these for Primary 1. Primary 1 loved watching the performance and couldn’t believe how the boys and girls could remember all the steps! Primary 1 then performed ‘Ye Canny Shove Yer Granny Aff the Bus.’ We all had a fantastic time!
Lacey said that she liked when she crossed her arms over.
Oliver liked when the boys and girls went around in a circle.
P.2/3 were taking part in some rainforest drama activities this afternoon. They were creating freeze frames of their drama scenes are were also recreating some rainforest animal sounds.
Annie “I am a bird eating spider from the Amazon.”
Mason “I am a parrot from the Amazon, they only really speak or make noises when spoken to.”
Ryan “I am a scary tiger who is trying to eat a toucan.”
On Tuesday the 29th of January at 9:15 am, Primary 1 and Primary 2 will be hosting an open morning for parents. Our focus will be on Scotland. We have been learning about Scotland and what makes Scotland special and unique. We have learned Scottish songs and dances which we will be showcasing. We hope to see you there but here is a sneak peek.
Thanks to all our parents/guardians who came in last week for the second of our class meetings. We completed another successful STEM challenge and I’m sure you’ll agree that the children were completely on task and contributing well, the photos below prove that!
Our challenge was to
Create a marble run that will keep a marble running for up to 60 seconds.
