Today we performed another random act of kindness in our base. We attended the Christmas Advent Service at the church with Father John then afterwards we invited the parishioners and parents over for tea and a mince pie. We entertained them by singing some of our lovely carols and spreading Christmas cheer. Well done AGAIN boys and girls. What lovely things you have thought up to do for advent this year .
We had a great time visiting the elderly residents of the Falcon Day Centre yesterday. We sang lots of lovely Christmas songs and received lots of compliments about our singing and entertaining. Well done children!!
I have collaborated in activities which safely demonstrate simple chemical reactions using everyday chemicals. I can show an appreciation of a chemical reaction as being a change in which different materials are made. SCN 2-19a
Today in class we looked at how an acid or alkali can be detected by a physical colour change to a ph indicator. We have been studying the periodic table over the last few weeks and this week we looked at the elements which form acids and alkalis, specifically everyday items we use or eat/drink.
We had a lovely day celebrating the feast of St. Fergus today. We attended mass at the church with Fr John where we shared all the things we enjoy about our education in St. Fergus’ Primary.
This afternoon we had a celebration in the gym hall. We had sweets and juice and watched a lovely Christmas movie.
Today was our first guitar lesson with our new instructor Phil.
I enjoy singing and playing along to music of different styles and cultures. EXA 0-16a
We learned about the parts of the guitar. We also learned two chords: C and G. We are waiting for the delivery of our cases so that we can begin bringing these home to practice.
Rachel- “We learned what chords and notes are.”
Yusuf- “we learned new notes today.”
Maks- “our chords we focused on were little g and little c.”
Our focus in P7 is currently substance misuse. We have looked at various types of substances including drugs, alcohol and caffeine and have investigated the dangers and effects these have on our bodies. We decided to conduct a science experiment so that we could actually see the effects of alcohol on the human liver.
I understand the effect that a range of substances including tobacco and alcohol can have on the body. HWB 2-38a
We completed science investigation sheets to explain the aim of our experiment.
Here we we are conducting our experiments.
Before we we left the classroom today Mrs McDougall asked us to fill in an exit pass to explain something we learned or were able to take away from the experiment.
Things got very competitive during our gym lesson today!! Healthy competition mind you! Scroll down for some pictures of us playing ‘Hoop Hop Challenge’ and our new class game ‘Jailbreak’.
Parker- “we were working on our stamina and luck in this game .”
Abbie- “I was jumping as fast as I could.”
Yusuf- “we were hopping through the hoops to beat our team.”
Neve and Yusuf playing rock, paper and scissors to decide who gets to continue.
We then moved onto jailbreak. This game focuses on working together as a team to try and steal balls from the other team.
We are a nut free zone as we have children with a severe nut allergy. I would ask for your co-operation and ensure that no nuts are brought in to school, please check all labels of your child’s snacks.
This includes chestnuts collected from the park, especially during this time of the year.
Please note that we are unable to accept birthday cakes to be shared out in class as there could be traces of nuts.
