Personal and Social Education

Our Personal and Social Education course in Renfrewshire is in response to the recommendations of the Scottish Government’s Review of Personal and Social Education and also our own review which was carried out in response to a motion put forward by our young people as part of the “Year of the Young Person 2018”.  Click on PSE Review 2020 to read the full report.

In February 2020, Education Scotland commissioned Children’s Parliament, Scotland’s centre of excellence for children’s rights and participation, to progress their commitment to a curriculum co-designed by young people.  At its heart, this commitment aims to produce both learner insight and practical ‘how to’ approaches to enhance the delivery and experience of the Health
and Wellbeing curriculum in our schools.  Click here to read the full report.

The following resources are included;

  • Teacher lesson plans
  • Lesson PowerPoints
  • Training
  • Professional Reading
  • Links to media campaigns and events
  • Local and national support partners
  • Links to Benchmark questionnaires

Our aim in Renfrewshire is to ensure that staff are kept up to date on issues affecting children and young people across our education establishments.  We do this by providing regular training opportunities and resources.  If you have any questions around this, contact Fiona White (Development Officer – Health and Wellbeing) at fiona.hewitt@renfrewshire.gov.uk
