P7 Leavers’ Assembly Songs

A huge thank you to the two groups of girls (Natalie, Grace, Christie, Tori and Rachel B) who put in a great effort to change the lyrics of modern songs for the P7s to sing at the Leavers’ Assembly.

We have now decided just to sing ‘Go!’, so please learn the words and practise the song.

Go! – original song: Roar by Katy Perry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPgWXBSwOxE

Go!

I used to suck my thumb and hide away,

Scared to make new friends and go to play.

So I sat quietly, shied away from society.

I guess that I was shy to other kids,

Eventually I grew my confidence.

Now I am stronger, I speak for much longer.

You helped me out, now I succeed, (hey!)

Already going to Parky.

You hear my voice, you hear my sound.

I bet I’m gonna make you proud.

You helped me out, now I succeed,

Get ready ‘cause I’m moving on.

I see it all, I see it now…

I’ve got the eye for Park Mains, our high school.

Dancing through the hallways.

‘Cause I am the champion, and you’re gonna see me go!

Faster, faster than a lion.

‘Cause I am the champion, and you’re gonna see me go,

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,

Oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,

You’re gonna see me go!

Now I’m floating like a butterfly,

Stinging like a bee I earned my tie.

I went from low oh oh, to my own flow oh oh.

You helped me out, now I succeed,

Already going to Parky.

You hear my voice, you hear my sound.

I bet I am gonna make you proud.

You helped me out now I succeed,

Get ready ‘cause I’m moving on,

You hear my voice, you hear my sound…

I’ve got the eye for Park Mains, our high school.

Dancing through the hallways.

‘Cause I am the champion, and you’re gonna see me go!

Faster, faster than a lion.

‘Cause I am the champion, and you’re gonna see me go,

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,

Oh, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh,

You’re gonna see me go, Go, Go, Go, Go!

I’ve got the eye for Park Mains, our high school.

Dancing through the hallways.

‘Cause I am the champion, and you’re gonna see me go!

Faster, faster than a lion.

‘Cause I am the champion, and you’re gonna see me go,

And you’re gonna see me go,

And you’re gonna see me go!

Summer Reading Challenge

Organised by The Reading Agency (www.readingagency.org.uk) and the UK public library network since 1999, the Summer Reading Challenge is the UK’s biggest annual reading promotion for children aged 4 to 11. Last year, in Renfrewshire, more than 2000 children took part.

The Summer Reading Challenge combines FREE access to books with fun, creative activities in the library during the summer holidays. Throughout the Challenge, library staff support the children, helping them to discover new authors and illustrators and to explore a wide range of different types of books and ways of reading,

 How the Challenge works

The Challenge starts on June 5th and runs till August 19th.

  • Children sign up at their local library and receive an Animal Agents collector folder
  • Children borrow and read at least six library books of their own choice during the summer, collecting special stickers to complete their folder and incentives along the way – a free swim pass, wristband, and badminton pass
  • Library staff are on hand to advise and run family-friendly activities
  • Children who complete the Summer Reading Challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal.

A huge well done to Jay, Erin and Rachael who represented our school last night at the Primary Track and Field. Iain Shearer, the Active Schools & Community Club Development Officer for Renfrewshire said “they behaved impeccably, gave 100% at their event and showed sportsmanship across the evening. The pupils were a credit to our schools. They missed out on winning the team prize by only a few points but definitely deserve recognition for their efforts.”

Well done to the three pupils!

P7 Gazette Photograph

The photographer from the Gazette is coming on Thursday 1 June in the morning to take the P7 photograph. t would be nice if the pupils could wear a white shirt and tie.

Forms for ordering a copy of the Gazette (50p each), given to pupils previously, should be handed in to the school no later than Thursday 1 June 2017.

P7 Zombie Day 4: Solar Oven

Now that you have secured your location and created a way to get cleaner water, it is time to think about food. Sometimes it will be easy to make a fire and sometimes that might not be your best option for cooking food. In some cases, a solar oven could come in handy. Compare and contrast a solver oven versus a fire to cook food below.

As well as designing and building your own solar oven, your group need to research various types of energy sources, particularly those we use in Scotland.

Solar power is one source of renewable energy, however there are other sources as well as non-renewable energy sources. In your group, use the links below to answer the following questions:

1.Identify renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and give an example of how these are used in Scotland.

2.What is another name for coal, oil & natural gas?

3.Name some positive and negative global impacts of using non-renewable and renewable energy sources.

4.Where do we get most of our electrical energy from? How is it transferred to our homes?

5.Suggest ways in which we can reduce our own energy use and live more sustainably.
