Sports Day 2021

This year, sports day will be a little bit different but with the same house pride as always. Due to current regulations, we can only race in our classes and this will be done in our PE slots. No spectators are allowed.

Our wonderful house captains will be recording our class races. We will then put it all together so we can watch the races unfold and find out who has won the coveted sports day trophy. This will be shared with parents and family.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, we are asking pupils to bring their house colours to school (in your school bag) every possible race day next week (Tuesday-Friday). Please do not worry if you do not have house colours, you will still race for your team. We suggest you wear casual uniform to school on these days. This will allow us to rearrange any races if the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Below is a reminder of our house colours. There is absolutely no need to buy anything new.

Falcons – Blue
Ospreys – Red
Eagles – Yellow
Hawks – Green

Good luck to all of the houses!

Go Team Bishopton!

Renfrewshire Virtual Cross Country

Bishopton Primary took part in the first ever virtual Cross-Country event. Everyone was able to take part under the following conditions:

P1 and 2 –  10 minutes of running.
P3,4 and 5 – 12 minutes of running.
P6 and 7 -15 minutes of running.

The pupils ran around the school pitch, which is 100m long, an unbelievable 12,449 times!!!

We feel this is some achievement and it was lovely to see everyone cheering each other on. A massive thank you to our P7’s who are the current Renfrewshire Road Race champions and recorded a message to inspire our pupils. I think it did the job!

Well done everyone!

Sports Day 2020

Next week (Wednesday 27th May) marks our annual Sports Day. Sadly, we will not be able to take to the field but we will be hosting our first ever Virtual Sports Day.

The teachers have been busy recording the demonstration videos for Wednesday morning but we would like to ask all households to get your house colours looked out for the event.

This year, your whole household can get involved in trying to win points for your house team by completing the tasks, creating banners and making new chants. Please send us pictures or videos of these activities to become part of our house montages.

It is all about getting active, having fun and supporting your house!

Renfrewshire Leisure Online Olympics

An online fun-filled version of the Olympic Games is being launched for primary school pupils during lockdown.

Every Monday from May 11, schools will send their pupils the rules and a video description of that week’s sporting event they can practise before entering their best results to special website page.

An explanation of each week’s event will also be posted each Monday on Renfrewshire Leisure’s social media channels.

Pupils can practise the particular week’s sporting or fitness event before they log their result on a website page they’ll be given a link to. The deadline for any particular week’s event will be the following Sunday at 11.59pm.

Each pupil’s results will go towards their school’s total and weekly league tables will be published on Renfrewshire Leisure’s social media.

At the end of the seven weeks the school that is at the top of the league and outright winners of the first-ever RL Online Olympics will be announced and once lockdown is over, they will be presented with a trophy.

Football Team Update

The football team maintained their impressive form in a tough end to end game against St John Bosco. The team all worked together to score some great goals. Thank you to the referees who come to officiate during their lunchtime at Park Mains and to our supporters who cheered us on. Our final fixture of the season will be against our friends at Barsail Primary.

Football Team Update

The football team were in great form against our friends at St Anne’s. The team played some wonderful attacking football and were clinical in front of goal against a team who we always have competitive games against. We look forward to our final two games in the upcoming months when hopefully the weather will be a little better! Thank you to all of our supporters who braved the elements to cheer us on.

Active Schools

Today marks the end of our Active Schools clubs for the term. We would like to thank the coaches for all of their hard work in providing a wide range of clubs to develop a healthy and active lifestyle outwith the classroom. Here are some pictures from a few of the clubs to show you what they have been up to. New clubs will begin in January.
