We were learning more about the Jewish celebration on Hanukkah today.  We found out they celebrate by doing a lot of things that are similar to our celebration of Christmas like giving presents, eating special foods, decorating the house, having parties and playing games.  We started making a dreidel which is a game played during Hanukkah.  When they are finished we can play the game with our friends.

Homework 12.12.16

Over the next two weeks please revise all the sounds and spelling we have been learning this term.  Can you see spot them in Christmas stories?  Can you write some Christmas sentences or make up a Christmas adventure using some of your words?

Keep practicing your reading and read some Christmas stories of your own with an adult.

Can you make a Christmas shape picture using squares, triangles, circles, rectangles, pentagons and hexagons?  Look at all the decorations at home and outside.  Can you name some 3-D shapes?  Can you find something in the shops that cost 2p, 5p 10p, 20p or 50p?  Can you choose the right coin that would pay for it?

A reminder that this Wednesday (14th) is the Christmas lunch and all orders should have been returned by last Friday (9th) otherwise you may not get your first choice.

This Friday (16th) is also our Nativity.  Morning performance is at 9.30am and the afternoon is at 1.30pm.  I’m sure you will all enjoy a wonderful show that will get you in the Christmas spirit!

We had great fun today in the Learning Zone.  We played in Percy’s hut and some of us wrote letters.  Then we posted them in the Post Office.imageimage

We also made Christmas dinner in the house and built a stable for Rudolph to live in when he is not guiding Santa’s sleigh.  We read Christmas stories and made up stories about animals who live in the cold Arctic.image image image image
