We have been learning the sound ‘sh’ in class and how to read tricky words. We have been learning to use some reading strategies like sound the word out, look for words hiding inside the word or look for a phoneme (two or three sounds together that make one sound – like ‘sh’, ‘ch’, ‘th’ etc).

We were learning to use some reading strategies to help us read our words. We know to try and sound words out, look for words hiding or look for tricky letters or phonemes.
Today we listened to a reading of our shared class book called ‘Where Next Dinky?’ on ‘Bug Club’. We talked about the tricky compass directions of north, south, east and west and named the countries that make up the United Kingdom.
We will get our passwords home soon so the children can enjoy discussing all the important new vocabulary they have been learning about.
We have all had a great first week in Primary 2 and we have all been working hard and getting to know each other. Well done everyone and enjoy your weekend.
