COMMON WORDS – read these words aloud from your word wall or list.
Group 1 – right, round, room, school, some.
Group 2 – down, off, our, him, all PLUS common words from the word wallets.
SPELLING
Practise writing these words in your jotter in small and capital letters. Do a whole row of each word.
Group 1 – by, time, house.
Group 2 – them, with, then.
Use Sumdog to practise your spelling skills too.
Sounds
Group 1 – magic ‘o-e’ sound (home, rope, stole, smoke etc). Practise reading the ‘o-e’ words from your sound booklet each night.
Group 2 – Practise reading aloud the ‘ch’ sound words from your new sound booklet every night.
READING
Read your book each night being careful to read the words on the page accurately (don’t add extra words, miss out words or read different words from the ones on the page). Talk about what is happening in the story. Can you find any of this week’s common words, sound words or spelling words in the book?
HANDWRITING
Practise these letters in small and capital letters –
bB, hH, kK, mM, nN, pP, rR.
- Remember to start at the correct place and make the capitals and tall letters touch the top line in your jotter.
- Make tall letters and capitals twice as big as the small letters.
- Sit your letter on or below the line.
MATHS
How many different ways can you split the number 11 or 12 up to make adding sums? Can you find the ‘twin’ facts too? There are 12 facts to find for number 11 and 13 facts to find for number 12. Here is an example –
Facts for 11 Facts for 12
6 + 5 = 11 8 + 4 = 12
5 + 6 = 11 etc. 4 + 8 = 12 etc
