We were making numbers 1, 10 or 11 more or less using our number games today.  This is helping us with our tens and unit numbers.

We have been busy using different skills in the Learning Zone today.  We have been measuring, planning, creating, working with others and problem solving.

Sounds

Revise these sounds ; kn, au, aw.  How many words can you remember for each sound?  Write a sentence with each word.

Play the computer games for each sound (look back at the last 3 weeks homework to find the links).

Read the list of sound words you have stuck in your jotter aloud to an adult.

Spelling

Revise these spelling words;  put, said, have, like, so ,do, this that, then, them.

• write the words in small and capital letters 3 times each.
• write a story using as many words as you can.

Reading

Practice reading your book every night and talk about what is happening.

Write a sentence or two about your favourite part and draw a picture.

Maths

Make up tens and unit sums for eg. 15 = 10 + 5

15 = 1 ten + 5 units

1 ten and 5 units = 15

If confident try numbers in the twenties, thirties etc.

Road Safety

We have been learning about staying safe when crossing the road. Go on a walk with an adult and practice crossing the road safely using the Green cross Code.  Remember to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK all the way across and to hold hands to stay safe.

What a fabulous day we had at our Sports Day today and the sun even came out for us! Everyone had a super time and I’m sure they will all sleep tonight. Enjoy the holiday week-end and the fine weather and I’ll see everyone on Tuesday.

Tomorrow is Sports Day.  The children can come to school dressed in their sports clothes (jogging trousers/ leggings, t-shirts, sweatshirt , trainers etc but no football strips).

The weather is forecast to be hot and sunny so please apply sun cream to your child BEFORE  they come to school and bring a bottle of water as they will be active all day and will be thirsty.

Parents are welcome to come along and watch.  See you there!

Sounds

This week’s sound Is ‘kn’ (knee, knock etc).

Here  are some activities to try;

• read your list of words and time yourself – are you getting better and quicker each time?
• use 2 coloured pencils.  Write the ‘kn’ sound in one colour and the rest of the word in another colour.

Spelling

This week’s words are – this, that, then, them.

• write the words in rainbow writing.
• write a sentence using each word and underline the spelling word.

Reading

Practise your book each night and talk about what’s happening in the story.

Maths

• practise numbers up to 99 writing them in tens and units eg

25=2 tens and 5 units.

4 tens and 6 units = 46.

67 = 60 + 7

80 + 6 = 86

School Show Songs

This year we are singing Billy Rae Cyrus ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ and Steps ‘5,6,7,8’.  Google the words and video.  Practise singing the words and any dance steps we practise in class.

We played lots of games today to help us learn our French colours.

Today we were reading with our partners looking and listening for reading accuracy.  We had to tell our partner if they read the words on the page and not added any, or missed any out.

We were learning more about road safety today. We had to THINK about the traffic coming, STOP at the edge of the road , LOOK and LISTEN for any traffic and when it was safe walk across the road, remembering to keep looking and listening the whole way across.
