We had great fun today in the Learning Zone.  We played in Percy’s hut and some of us wrote letters.  Then we posted them in the Post Office.

We also made Christmas dinner in the house and built a stable for Rudolph to live in when he is not guiding Santa’s sleigh.  We read Christmas stories and made up stories about animals who live in the cold Arctic.

Literacy

We are learning about when to use capitals and full stops to punctuate sentences.

Sounds

This week’s sound is magic ‘o-e’ (home, stole). Practise reading your sound list out loud every night recording your best time. Can you beat your best time every night?

Write a sentence with some of the words. Remember capitals at the beginning, people’s names and the word ‘I’.

Spelling

This week’s words are – down, look, too.

Practise each word in capitals and small letters (3 times each).

Reading

Practise your reading every night talking about the characters and events that are happening. How many sentences are on each page? Count them. Which page has the most sentences?

Maths

We will be looking at coins and money. Go to the shop and buy something costing 2p, 5p and 10p. Can you give the correct amount?

We were making 2-D shape pictures on the computer today.  We made squares, rectangles, triangles, pentagons and we even learned about a new shape called the hexagon.  Can you tell someone all about the sides, corners and whether the sides are straight or curved?

We sorted the 2-D shapes into those with straight or curved sides and those with both.
