imageimageIn the gym today we played ‘The Witches Cauldron’ game.

For drama we were miming out actions to accompany the ‘Mr. Night Time’ poem.  We were also being nocturnal creatures like cats, bats and foxes.

We also got to use the giant i-pad to play games as a reward for winning the ‘Cool Class Cup’ last week.

Homework 24.10.16

Literacy

The sound for this week is ‘ea’.  Try these activities;

  • find as many ‘ea’ words in books or comics and make a list.
  • time yourself reading the list – can you get quicker each time?
  • write a simple sentence with a few of the words – remember a capital and full stop.

Spelling

The spelling words are;

but, put,  I,  to.

  • try writing each word on a partner’s back.
  • write the word in the air.

Reading

Practice your book every night.  Talk about what happened at the beginning, middle and end.  Write a sentence for each part.

Maths

We will be continuing to work on addition number stories for 8, 9 and 10 .  Try these activities;

  • complete the worksheet and stick it in your jotter.
  • ask and answer oral questions eg what is 5 + 3 ?  Can you find the twin fact?  One person can be the pupil answering and one the teacher asking (the teacher has to check the answer is correct!)

Hallowe’en

P1-3 have their Hallowe’en activities on Thursday 27th October from 5.15pm – 6.15pm.  Can you design, draw and label your Hallowe’en costume?

We have been working with our partner to find all the ways to split numbers 8, 9 and 10 using our cubes and partition boards.

We have also been using the computers to help us find information from tally charts, pictograms and block graphs.

Literacy

This weeks sound is magic ‘a-e’. Complete the sheet, stick it in your jotter and write as many ‘a-e’ words in a list in your jotter as you can. Practise reading them out loud every night.

The spelling words we will be covering are;

‘not, got, up, mum’.

Use the 5 rules of spelling – ‘Look, Say, Cover, Write Check’. Write each word in rainbow colours.

Reading -We will be continuing to work on summarising a text and focusing on what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the story. Talk to your child about the events in their reading book, picking out the main parts only. Can they re-tell the story orally using 1 sentence to summarise the beginning, middle and end.

Maths

We will be working on interpreting data from tally charts, pictograms and bar graphs. Try this game;

We were working with our partner today to practise our dictated spelling words.  We pretended to be the teacher and the pupil and swapped places to have shots each.

We are learning about our bodies organs and all the jobs they do.  We lpositioned each organ in the right place and labelled it too.

We were busy today writing a re-count story about making a healthy fruit kebab.  We looked at photos to remind us about what we did and we had to include targets such as When it happened? Who was in the story? What we did? How we felt? and Why?  Some of our stories are on the wall.
