Wednesday 15th September

We have been busy counting forwards and backwards. Counting backwards is a bit tricky so we will need to keep practising! This afternoon we learnt about Rosh Hashanah which is the Jewish New Year and it is the year 5776AM! People eat apples dipped in honey in the hope of a sweet new year.

We found out that some of us like honey after all!

Reading
A new reading book will be given each Friday. The days for reading are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, so please make sure that pupils have their reading books in their bags each day. Listen to your child read and encourage them to use reading strategies to work out new words;
*First letter, phonemes in words, words in words, picture clues, meaning.
*Look for 2, 3 and 4 letter words in the reading book.
*Can you find any words with our revised phonemes in them?

Number
We have been learning about number order, how to identify and write numbers and fill in patterns backwards and forwards.
Homework Ideas –
*Count in turns with someone else 1 2 3 4 5 6 and so on. Who is out first?
*Go on a number hunt – in the house, in the street, at the shops. *How many places do you see numbers?
*Play board games to practise counting correctly.
This site has a variety of games which support number ordering.

HWB
We have been thinking about the jobs and responsibilities we have at home, school and in the community.
*Why not make a chart of your jobs at home and how many times you do them in a fortnight?
*If you see anyone helping in the community, draw a picture of what they were doing.
*We are looking at the feeling of belonging. Do you belong to a club? Why not try joining one if you can?
