This morning we performed two songs for our family and friends at our annual Fairtrade Pancake Breakfast. We were brilliant and sang really loudly.
Yesterday we enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. Some of us came dressed as book characters and others wore their pyjamas.
On Monday 11th March, P6 will have the opportunity to browse the Book Fair and be able to purchase books until Thursday 14th March. Remember next Friday is Comic Relief day and children can bring £1, dress in red and/or have crazy hair.
This morning P6 were asked to trial Lego Therapy. Each of us had a role and we worked together as a team to create a model. We then switched roles and by the end of the session we all had the chance to be an engineer, a supplier and a builder.
Remember next Thursday, you can come dressed as a book character, wearing your pyjamas or school uniform for World Book Day. On Friday our class will be singing two songs at the Pancake Breakfast.
This morning for our Big Write, we wrote a story about The Assassination of Archduke Frank Ferdinand. We were writing as if we were Gavrilo Princip- the assassin.
This morning we continued our Circuit Training for PE. Now that we know what to do at each, circuit we timed ourselves and recorded our performance. At the end of our lesson we discussed the importance of a cool down and stretching our muscles to ensure we look after ourselves. We were all really sweaty afterwards but some people didn’t bring their PE kits. Please ensure you have you PE kit tomorrow for our next circuit training.
Welcome back to school. Our first week has been really busy. We started our World War I topic and we are all really enjoying our new topic. This morning we looked again at developing character through “show not tell”. Instead of telling the reader how the character is feeling, we show the reader by what the character say, do and feel. We worked cooperatively to brainstorm ideas to show feelings for sad, happy and frightened. We then created lists and published them so we can use our ideas in our own writing.
This afternoon we celebrated at the P5, P6 and P7 Christmas party. We were dancing, playing games and eating lots of nice food. Tomorrow is the Pantomime- Oh not it isn’t! Oh yes it is!!!!!
Its been a very busy day with Christma Lunch, Christmas Jumpers and Nativity Dress Rehearsal. We made reindeer antlers and painted our noses red to ensure we were dressed for Christmas Lunch!
Today in our writing lesson about Mary Christmas, wife of Father Christmas, we thought about different ways to begin our stories. Some people decided to begin by describing an object, setting, action or character. Another people decided to begin with dialogue or a question.
Please remember next:
Monday- please bring in black bottoms ( skirt, leggings, jeans, trousers) in a bag clearly labelled with your name for the dress rehearsal.
Wednesday is Christmas Dinner and Christmas jumper day.
Friday Nativity performance in the morning and afternoon.
This week P6 were visited by Mr Carter, a geologist, and his wife who was a chemist. They helped P6 to become Soil Detectives. Everyone worked at the three different stations learning many new things about soil.
Today we were joined by Gerry for Microfitness as a special treat for St Andrew’s Day. We certainly got our heartbeats racing as we completed the military fitness course.
Our Nativity this year is on Friday 14th December. For the performance, the school will give the children a top to wear but everyone needs to bring in something black to wear on their bottom half e.g. black trousers or black leggings or black skirt.
Yesterday we went to the Luggie with a geologist called Paul Carter. We learned that the rocks around the Luggie are mainly mudstone, sandstone and clay. These rocks are over 300 million years old, when Scotland was at the Equator. We also collected soil samples and we are going to investigate them when Mr Carter returns to our class in a fortnight.
