We are now on our way back from a very busy day in Edinburgh! We have all had a fabulous time and the sun was shining all the way through!
Now to have a wee snooze on the bus on the way home!
The next stop on our Edinburgh trip was Mary King’s Close! We learned more facts about Mary King’s Close and got to see what it was like to live underground in Edinburgh…it was very dark and smelly!
‘It was very scary!’ – Xander
‘It wasn’t as creepy as I thought it would be!’ – Jade
‘I don’t think it was scary, it was really fun!’ Liam
We have arrived on our Greyfriars Bobby Tour! We are learning lots of new facts from our tour guide James Douglas! We even got to see the grave and statue of Greyfriars Bobby!
It’s finally here! We are on our way to Edinburgh, we are so excited and cannot wait to get there!!
We are very excited about our school trip to Edinburgh tomorrow! In the morning we are looking forward to visiting Greyfriars Bobby and in the afternoon we will be going on a spooky tour of Mary King’s Close! We learned lots about these places during our Edinburgh topic and now we cannot wait to visit them in real life!
The forecast is looking good for tomorrow and the sun is expected to be shining so please put on some sun cream before you come to school.
Please remember to bring a packed lunch in a disposable bag so it can be thrown away when you are finished.
Hopefully, there will be an opportunity to visit the gift shop at Mary King’s Close so if you wish to buy something please bring some money – no more than £5.
You can come to school dressed down for the trip. We will be doing a lot of walking so please come wearing some comfortable footwear.
Finally, we are hoping to return to school at 3pm, traffic allowing! However, if we expect to be late we will contact the school as soon as we can and parents will receive a text message with an approximate return time.
Today we were invited to Abronhill Library to find out about the 2015 Record Breakers Reading Challenge! The theme of the day was Record Breakers and we heard three stories narrated by Fergus and Ron of Mac-A-Story.
The first story was about Finn McCool who was a Knight in golden armour and needed helpers to assist him on his adventure to defeat the giant and reclaim stolen goods. In total he had seven helpers. Jody was the light fingered thief who helped to capture the goods and Dominic was the best archer in the land who shot the giant to defeat him!
The next story was about Atlantis who was a Princess who the fastest runner in the land. Nobody was able to defeat her.
The final story was about Thor, the God of Thunder who was the strongest person in the world. Christian was very lucky to be chosen as Thor and did a great job acting out each part of the story!
We are very excited to be taking part in the Record Breakers Challenge – if we want to take part we have to complete the registration card and return it to school tomorrow. The challenge is to read six books during the summer holidays.
