This week the children have been collecting for Kilsyth Community Foodbank. We had a overwhelming response from all the pupils in the school and we collected 52 bags of food and £50 in monetary donations. It was a fabulous effort from the children who were involved in sorting and dating the products to help the volunteers at the Foodbank. A huge congratulations to everyone involved.
Maths
This week in maths we have been learning how to partition a number and then use brackets. For example 2 x 28 = (2×20) + (2×8) = 40+16=56. Some of the children were challenged to partition larger numbers and then solve the problems. We also learned how to make a timetable and then examine it to answers a series of questions.
Topic
This wee we have been learning about natural disasters in Japan. We know that Japan is on the Ring of Fire and is prone to tsunamis. We studied the tsunami of 2011 and couldn’t believe the devastation it left behind. We can label the parts of a volcano and we also know what you need in a survival kit if there is an earthquake.
Star pupil this week is Ciara. Well done!
