A Week of Thanksgiving

In Literacy this week our focus was creating visualisers, we know it’s important to include direct quotes from our book and an image so that the reader can visualise what is happening in the story. We’re enjoying the books we are reading just now. In Maths we have been looking at Information Handling. This week we have looked at frequency tables, data on bar graphs and how to interpret pictograms.

Our new topic was revealed last week when we went with our groups to find some clues and a mystery item. We brought these back to the class (They were very well wrapped!) together discovered that our new topic would be dinosaurs. We’re looking forward to learning about these throughout the coming weeks.

This week we began to make our crafts for the Christmas Fayre as it’s only a few weeks away! We hope to see lots of you there.

A few weeks ago we helped Primary 1 make salt dough and this week we had the chance to see their completed hedgehogs. We were delighted when they came to visit our class to show us what they had made! They really were amazing, well done Primary 1.

For recount writing this week we learned about the history behind the very first Thanksgiving, we learned how the pilgrims left their homes in search of a better life in America and how they were very thankful to the Native Americans helped them so much. Miss Fitzgerald had a special video message from her friend in America to show us, she was very excited to hear that we were learning about Thanksgiving and even asked to read a few of our stories! As Thursday was thanksgiving day we completed a list of A-Z of all the things in our lives we are thankful for then some of us took part in a ‘Brussel Sprout Challenge’ we learned that putting yourself forward to try new things pays off as the brussel sprouts tasted much sweeter than we first expected them to 🙂

We also took part in a quiz about what we had learned with the T-Rex’ winning the ultimate brussel sprout

!

We have been completing our Travel Tracker every day, recording how we get to school… hopefully some of us earn some badges in the near future.

Thanks for reading our blog.
