Spot On!

This week for Language our favourite task was Writing a diary entry, we were pretending that we were the main characters in our book. For Story Writing we wrote a recount of a day in the life of a Primary 5, maybe Primary 4 will want to read these later in the year.

In Maths we measured how many metres the playground is. We also measured the playground diagonally and the distance around the trim trail, we used the trundle wheels in groups and all really enjoyed this task.

For Health and Well-being we learned about the laws regarding the use of fireworks, we now know where they can be used and at what times. We also began to look at Fire Safety.

Our highlight of the week was definitely the time we spent with the Brothers of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal from the Bronx. It was great to meet some Friars as it was only a few weeks ago we were learning about them and how their mission started from the inspiration they took from St Francis of Assisi. We were very blessed to be able to attend Mass with them on Wednesday, they told us that “Gratitude is the Key that opens God’s Heart” it was a great reminder for us all that we should be grateful for everything we have and everybody in our lives. We were so inspired by them that we made these hearts ourselves as a reminder.

In the afternoon they came over to the school and we spent some more time with them, they taught us a new song, it was lots of fun. They very kindly answered some of our questions. They said they would keep us all in their prayers, our class agreed we would do the same for them.

Today we dressed in our spots for Children in Need, have a look at some of the photos.

We had a big reveal today- our new topic! We were sent to different places around the school in our groups on a ‘mini treasure hunt.’ Each group had to answer a question at their location before they were given their clue, they then came back to class with them! Can you guess what our new topic is going to be?

Reminder: Monday is an In-service day for staff, Miss Fitzgerald looks forward to seeing all the boys and girls back on Tuesday.

Thanks for visiting our blog,

-Miss Fitzgerald and Primary 5h
