Learning Adventures in P3

Another productive week in P3. Here’s what we’ve been up to …

In Literacy we have been chatting about punctuation. We read a book called ‘The Royal Dinner’ and discussed all the different types of punctuation that the author had used and why we think she used it. The story also had lots of rhyming, alliteration and humour too. We do like a little giggle now and again in P3! 😂

In Maths we are continuing to work on place value and this week we learned the importance of zero as a place holder. Cameron told us that in 501 there are 5 hundreds, no tens and 1 unit. He also told us that without zero the number would be 51.

In Science we learned about changes in matter. We changed a liquid into a solid by freezing water and then changed it back to liquid by allowing it to melt. We discovered that the freezing part took longer than the melting part. We also learned that when water is changed into a gas it is called steam. We can see this when adults boil water in a kettle or pot. Next week we are planning to use jelly in our science lesson. Tune in next week for update on what we discover!
