Làn Chomais

Làn Chomais’ debut single, ‘S e Nollaig a th’ ann! , was released on Thursday December 7th. This exiting tune with a very rocky vibe is available on ITunes, Amazon and Google play. To date the song has recieved a great amount of airtime an BBC Scotland, BBC Rèidio nan Gàidheal, Celtic Music Radio, Clyde 1, Smooth Radio and Heart as well as numerous local radio stations such as Two Lochs Radio, Isles Fm and Oban Fm. The track has also had international exposure with radio stations in Canada plaing it.

As well as radio airtime, Làn Chomais have recieved Nation television aitime with pieces having been shown on BBC Alba and ITV 2.

As well as all this, they have been asked to record music for North Lanarkshire Council’s video celebration The Year of Young People. This is a fantastic opportunity and their extremely proud to have been asked.

Their debut EP , Ri Cheile, will be reales in late Jan / Early February.

Eve Byrne and Ava Mackinnon Christmas Service

Eve Byrne (S1) and Ava Mackinnon (S4) participated in the recording of BBC ALBA’s Christmas Eve Service 2017 which is produced by Sealladh TV and will be broadcast on BBC Alba and Radio nan Gaidheal.

Both Eve and Ava did readings at the service on Wednesday 29th November.

“Oidhche Shèimh” will be broadcast on:

BBC ALBA at 23.00 on Christmas Eve, and repeated on Christmas Day at 17.00.

An edited version of the material will also be transmitted on:

Radio nan Gàidheal at 23.00 on Christmas Eve, and repeated at 17.00 on  Christmas Day

North Lanarkshire CLD Partnership – Celebration of Learning 2017

The Gaelic Drama Group recently received the Award for Gaelic at the North Lanarkshire CLD Partnership – Celebration of Learning 2017 Awards Ceremony.

Their success in delivering projects geared towards supporting pupils to develop their linguistic skills was recognised at the event.

Members of the group in attendance delivered a performance on the evening.

Dynamic Youth Awards

The members of the drama group received their Dynamic Youth Award certificates for the work that they have carried out through their participation in the group.

Alastair Condie FilmG

On Tuesday 28th November Alastair Condie recorded his film which is to be submitted to FilmG this year.

Alastair is a Gaelic Learner and attends the Drama Group in order to enhance his linguistic skills.

His film is titled An Fhirinn Mun Sgoil.

All members of the drama group appear in his film.

FilmG 16th and 17th November

The Gaelic Drama Group were supported in making one of their films for the FilmG competition this year by two professional actors and film makers.  Cailean Collier and Calum Macaulay had a great time as they helped the pupils create a film based on the script that they had been writing over the previous three weeks.

We look forward to seeing the film in the near future!

Eilidh Simpson STV Appeal

On Friday 3rd November Eilidh Simpson and her mother Alison attended the live broadcast of the STV Appeal.

Eilidh arranged for the school to participate in the STV Appeal this year as she invited Sean Batty to the school to learn how to deliver a weather forecast in Gaelic.

‘S e Nollaig a th’ ann! It’s Christmas!

Tha ar còmhlan Làn Comais air crìoch a chuir air an òran ùr aca!

 

Cho math ris a’ chòmhlan fhèin, tha Jacob Spence (S5) a’ cluich bass air an trac seo. Cuideachd,  chaidh seist a chlàradh air a bheil gach sgoilear à GHS (S1, 2 &3) agus seist eile air a bheil gach sgoilear bho Bùnsgoil Condorrait agus Baird Memorial.

 

 

Thèid a chur aig bhog air 7 An Dùbhlachd agus gheibhear air itunes! Dèanaibh cinnteach gun ceannaich sibh e!!!!!!

Our band, Làn Comais have recorded their new song ‘S e Nollaig a th’ ann!

As well as the band members, Jacob Spence from S5 is playing bass and the track features over 9oo voices! All pupils from S1, S2 &  S3 GHS were recorded singing an English verse on Monday 23rd October and every pupil from both Condorrat and Baird Memorial Primary Schools was recorded sniging a Gaelic verse.

           

The single will be available on ITunes from the 7th December!
