In November 2021 we also celebrated World Kindness Day as part of our calendar of literacy celebrations.

One of our S2 literacy ambassadors sourced the perfect literary quote on kindness and arranged for it to be displayed on the school’s Braidy Board. The quote is from the children’s book ‘Wonder’ by RJ Palacio’.

The literacy ambassadors also asked staff to nominate their favourite children or teen book as their act of kindness. Each staff member then received a poster for their classroom/office door to display to the school community their choice of book. These posters were also made into a short iMovie which allowed us to communicate staff book recommendations to the wider school community.

Our literacy ambassadors also recommended their favourite book as an act of kindness and their posters were affixed to the library shelves in the hope of inspiring other pupils to try the book.

And finally, the library also created a display of books that have kindness at their core and which pupils were encouraged to borrow from.
