REGISTRATION OF CHILDREN FOR PRIMARY EDUCATION

Arrangements for registration for education of infant beginners in primary schools in North Lanarkshire Council have been agreed by the Education and Families committee as follows:

  1. all children in the school’s catchment who have attained the age of 5 years before the first day of the new school session;
  2. all children in the area who will attain the age of 5 years on or before the last day of February of the succeeding year should register on dates intimated in local newspapers.

Parents/Carers who move to a new address should also present their children for registration at the local school serving their new home.

Parents/Carers have the right to make a placing request for their child(ren) to be educated in a school other than the one which serves their area.  An information booklet providing details of how to make a placing request is available from any school or from Education and Families and requests should be submitted prior to 15 March 2019.

If the parent/carers does not wish to make a placing request the child may be enrolled in the local school at the time of registration provided there is sufficient accommodation in the school.

These arrangements do not apply to children whose fifth birthday falls on or after 1 March of the succeeding year.  Parents/carers may make a request for admission of such an “early entry” child to primary school.  Details of the procedure may be obtained from Education and Families.

Please take a copy of a current council tax bill and your child’s birth certificate to the school office between 9.00 and 11.30 or 13.00 and 15.00 on any day this week.
