Transition from Nursery to Primary One

On Tuesday 27th April we will hold our first ‘Transition Tuesday’. For 6 weeks, our pre-school children will be getting ready for school with a programme developed around Julia Donaldson’s Everywhere Bear. Each week there will be different activities going on in nursery that can be developed at home too. This is a North Lanarkshire wide programme, but we are working closely with our Chryston Cluster partners to ensure
equity for all children starting P1 in August. We are unable to run our normal P1 induction days, but we will make sure our pre-schoolers have lots of opportunities this term to explore the wider school and get to know Room 1. On Tuesday 1st June at 6.30pm, there will be an online parent workshop where you can find out what Primary 1 will look like for your child and ask any questions.

90th Anniversary of Auchinloch Primary School

Our school building turned 90 during the spring break and we feel it is important to mark the occasion, albeit in a COVID safe way. The children have been learning about the school building and the village. We are so grateful to one of our parents whose business, 1st Class Trophies and Awards Ltd, created and gifted every child and member of staff with a pin badge to commemorate the school’s 90th anniversary. We hope the children will wear these with pride as we continue our celebrations into next week. Thank you also to the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and former pupils from the village who have emailed or dropped in old photographs for the children to see and share. If you have any photos you’d like to share, please email them to Ms McCrossan on

Self-Isolation Home Learning

We have added a new folder on each of the class teams called “Self Isolation – Home Learning. If your child must self-isolate, please contact the school and let us know the isolation period and the reason. E.g. Contacted by Test and Protect, symptomatic household, close contact to positive case, positive COVID test result. Class teachers will then prepare and upload tasks and resources into the Self Isolation – Home Learning folder by the end of the following school day. Completed tasks can be photographed and uploaded into your child’s section in the class notebook in the same way as the weekly homework.

Remembrance Day

School and Nursery

Remembrance Sunday is this Sunday, the 8th November.  We will participate in a 2-minute silence at 11am on the 11th November. Normally poppies would be on sale in the week or so leading up to it but because of COVID that can’t happen. Instead, all children are being given a poppy from Poppy Scotland and we are asking if you would still like to make a donation to either put money in the tins in supermarkets or donate to this Just Giving link

Children in Need – Friday 13th November 2020

School and Nursery

Next Friday, 13th November, is BBC’s Children in Need appeal day. We are continuing the Auchinloch tradition by having a non-uniform and awareness raising fun day. We have lots of COVID compliant activities planned and we are sure it will be lots of fun, even if we can’t have our faces painted! We are still unable to accept cash to the school office so have set up a Just giving page where any donations will go directly to the charity. If you would like to donate, anonymous or otherwise, to Children in Need, please click the following link.

On Friday children can dress down or wear Pudsey/spotty/yellow themed clothes.
