Home Learning Grids

Home Learning Grids have been uploaded to the website and to the appropriate class teams. The format is a bit different, there is now a slide for each day with tasks to work through. This is a suggested structure, if you have a different routine and it’s working – stick with it.

Class Notebook

Every child now has access to their own notebook. Work can be uploaded, and feedback will be given by the Class Teachers. Please continue to post photographs on the main ‘posts’ section as this has been generating lots of discussion and we know many children have enjoyed seeing their classmates from afar.

Jotters

For any children who have used up the space in their jotters, more can be collected from the shop across from the school. Please only take one per pupil when you need it. We will replenish the stock regularly.

P7 to S1 Transition

Chryston

For those moving on to Chryston High School keep an eye on the @CHSp7Transition on Twitter as the staff are uploading transition videos to their YouTube channel every week.

Watching these videos is also a great opportunity for our P6s who will very soon be thinking about the move to high school. Getting a tour of the school and meeting the staff from the comfort of your own home will surely calm a few anxieties.

Lenzie

For those moving on to Lenzie Academy, the P7 Transition team will close at the end of this week, Friday 5th June. If you haven’t already been on to explore, please do so this week. We would hate for you to miss this opportunity.

Nursery to P1 Transition

To the parents of the children starting P1 in August, thank you for your patience. We deliberately haven’t sent out any information as we wanted to wait until we had information to give you. We will be in touch in the coming weeks with regard the transition from Nursery to P1 and starting school in August.

Home Learning

The Home Learning Grids which will run from today until the 1st of June have been uploaded to the Nursery and Class Teams. The school grids have also been uploaded to this website.

The school grids look a little different this time as teachers have suggested a daily or weekly routine. It is there to offer more structure to those who would like it but if you have found a routine that works for your family, stick with it. The class teachers have also assigned spelling words for children based on their class groupings. If any children can’t remember which spelling group they are in, please get in touch.

Class Notebook

We have been running a pilot in using the Class Notebook on Teams and hope to roll this out to all children later this week.

Each child has their own notebook space where work can be typed in, copied and pasted or photographs of written work can be uploaded. This will give children an opportunity to share their work with their teacher and receive feedback on it. The notebook can only be accessed by the pupil and the teachers. The class notebook will be an optional resource, teachers will check and feedback once a week on any work that has been uploaded but you need not use it if you don’t want to.

We will still encourage children to share photographs and videos on the main posts page as many have reported feeling connected to their classmates this way.

P7-S1 Transition

The transition programmes for our P7s are underway, emails have been sent out to parents and messages left on the Class Team for the children where there is an expectation to complete a task.

Chryston High School has set up a transition twitter account, please see this page for regular updates. @CHSp7Transition

Mental Health Awareness Week

The 18th – 24th May is Mental Health Awareness week. Finding the balance of working from home, home learning and family life isn’t an easy one. We will be retweeting various resources this week, but the most important thing is finding what is works for your family and doing that. Take care.

Home Learning

Home Learning Grids for the next fortnight have been added to the Class Teams and in the room tabs on the Home Learning section of the website. Class teachers have added some resources to the files section of teams. We are aware of the difficulties some people have had accessing these files. We have deleted the glitchy ‘Class Materials’ file and added the resources to the main files so we would appreciate anyone who has had difficulties to try again and let Ms McCrossan know if you’re still having problems.

Class Teams

It has been great seeing so many children interacting with their teachers and each other on the Class Teams. Please continue to share stories and work and see the photographs you’ve been posting.

Sumdog

Congratulations to last week’s Sumdog winners. There are competitions set up for this week for each class so the leader board will only show children from the same class. This competition will finish at 2pm on Thursday this week.

SCHOOL – Home Learning

We know some people are struggling to access the Home Learning Grids through Teams just now so we have added a tab to this website and grids will be uploaded each fortnight. The issues are Scotland wide and we are working hard to sort the problem on Teams in order that all children can access all files. Thank you for your patience.

The settings have been changed in each class team so now children can interact with their teacher in the posts section. Some children have already shared work and stories with their classmates and teacher.

Sumdog

Congratulations to last week’s Sumdog competition winners! Winners were announced on the Class Teams and certificates emailed to parents. There’s a new Reading, Spelling and Maths competition live for this week but will finish at 2pm instead of 3pm to allow winners to be announced straight away. Good luck!

Chryston HS Virtual Concert

The Performing Arts department at Chryston High School are organising a virtual concert for pupils, staff, pupils in the associated primaries and friends in the community. Two of our talented pupils have already submitted entries and it would be great to see more Auchinloch All Stars taking part. Click on the link for more information.

We hope all of our families are safe and well at home and are enjoying some time out in the sunshine and fresh air every day. A huge thank you to everyone who joined in the celebration for Mrs Gold’s retirement before the holiday. We loved seeing your photographs and posters and over £300 was raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust. You are all Auchinloch All Stars!

Home Learning

Home Learning Grids will be uploaded to Teams once a fortnight. Children should use these grids to direct home learning. They can work through each task or pick and choose as they like.

Sumdog

There is a school wide Sumdog competition running each week for Spelling, Reading and Maths. The top ranked pupil from each class will receive an electronic certificate to their parents’ email address and their own Glow email.

Studyladder

Class teachers are assigning new tasks on Studyladder each week. These are based on what the children have been learning in class and are assigned according to age, stage and ability.

Twitter

We will continue tweeting about school life and other fun activities we find. Even if you are not a member of Twitter you can view our feed on Twitter.com and searching for the handle @AuchinlochPrim1

If anyone has any issues accessing the online resources, please email Ms McCrossan and she will do her best to help.

Thank you!
