Stirling Castle Trip

Primary 4/5  have been learning about Knights and Castles. We went on a trip to Stirling Castle to learn more about Castles.

We visited the vaults and learned about the lives of people in the castles. Painters, Musicians, kitchen staff and the Stuart Kings.

We ate lunch in the Queen Anne Gardens and met our guide for the afternoon – Jon The Jester, James IV’s Fool.

Jon took us on a tour of the castle, starting in the Queen Anne Garden. He lead us up to the palace, through the Great Hall, the galleries and Douglas Garden. Then we went to the battlements where we learned about John Damian, who tried to fly from the battlements in 1507. He rounded off his tour by teaching us some ‘tricks of the trade’ using diablos, devil sticks, juggling balls and plate spinning.

We really enjoyed our trip and learned lots about the castle and Stuart Kings.
