On Friday, we had 9 pupils from the school involved in a UK wide BBC Children in Need choir performance made up of several individual choirs from across the county. BBC London cut to the Glasgow choir towards the end of the performance and, for a brief moment, the pupils were shown live on UK TV. However, on Saturday evening there was a specific BBC Scotland programme where the Glasgow choir was given a lot more airtime. I’ve included the iplayer link below. It was a fabulous experience for the pupils and a massive thanks to Shonagh for organising this and working with the pupils. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06pjldy/bbc-children-in-need-2015-scotlands-best-bits First choir performance at 19 minutes Second choir performance at 1 hour 4 minutes Written by Mr.

PUPIL BULLETIN WEEK COMMENCING – MONDAY 9-11-15
GOOD LEARNING ALERTS We show respect for each other. GETTING YOUNG PEOPLE REGISTERED TO VOTE The rules on the voting age have now changed meaning that, for the first time, 16 and 17 year olds will be eligible to take part in elections to the Scottish Parliament and at local elections in Scotland. Voters in this age group were able to take part in the Scottish independence referendum last year. At the referendum we saw that young people are politically engaged and that they want to vote. But to be able to take part in next year’s election and have your voice heard, you must be registered to vote. It’s easy to apply to register online now at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote it only takes a

Pink Coffee Morning
The Business ICT Department, ably assisted by S3 Enterprise & Employability worked very hard to put on a fantastic PINK coffee morning, which was fully supported by the staff of Coltness High School. Apart from delicious cakes and refreshments, staff dug deep to try their hand at Bingo Lingo, Pink Wardrobe, and of course, our legendary Pink Tombola. Some staff won great prizes, while others won Toilet Rolls! The pupils also sold pin badges and home made bookmarks. The end total from the 2 days Fund Raising will be approximately £700! Thanks to everyone who donated – your money is going to Breast Cancer Research – a charity close to our hearts.

School Credit Union
From October 2015, we are going to have a Credit Union in the school to encourage pupils to save their spare money rather than just spend it! Many people save for holidays, special occasions or expensive items they would like – for example computer games or a musical instrument. Saving is a really good thing to do – even if you don’t really know what you are saving for just now. It’s always useful to have some spare money for unexpected events! To start saving in school, we need to open an account for you with Wishaw Credit Union but it is quite simple to do. Just fill in an application form in school and get a parent or guardian to sign it as
