The following information will now be included with consent forms for excursions: The information you provide on this form will be used by North Lanarkshire Council’s Education & Families to assist with ensuring that due care and attention is given to any medical, dietary or additional support required by the person for whom consent is given and for no other purpose. The purpose and legal basis for processing this information is to provide education services as part of our duties as local government in Scotland. As some of the information processed may be special category data the processing is necessary for health or social care purposes. The information may be released to local medical staff in the case of emergencies without prior consent.

School Car Park

Just a reminder to all that the school carpark is subject to the same laws of motoring as the streets in and around the school. In particular on zebra crossings, as soon as a pedestrian puts their foot on this then any motorists should give way. A further reminder there is a one way system in place. Finally a reminder for all users to remember to adhere to all speed limit signs within the grounds.

Funeral of Steven McIlquham

We have received word that Steven’s funeral is as follows: Saturday 18th January 2020 at 10.30am in South Wishaw Church followed by burial at Cambusnethan Cemetery at 11.30am. The family have requested to wear something blue (no football colours).

We woke on the morning of Thursday 2nd January to the horrific news that Steven McIlquham an S4 pupil at the school had been involved in a road traffic incident the night before and had sadly passed away. The entire school community is absolutely devastated to hear of Steven’s death. He was a very popular boy and his sad passing will be a great loss to so many people. He was well liked by both his peers and staff and our thoughts go out to his friends and family. Food Bank

A very sincere and massive thank you to the pupils and their families who all contributed to today’s collection for Basics Food Bank. A grand total of 1327 items were collected, which we are sure will help those in our local area who are currently in need. Also, a very big well done to Arran House who collected the most items.

Christmas Stall 2019

Thanks to everyone who helped raise funds for Guide Dogs Scotland today at our Christmas Guide Dog stall in the library. So far we have raised nearly £200.00 and hope to raise more before Christmas.  

Book Week Scotland Competition Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Book Week Scotland ‘scots sayings’ competition we held last week to celebrate this annual event in Scotland. Well done to both pupils’ and thank you to the pupils and teachers who participated.

Author Gill Arbuthnott ‘Blethering’ at Coltness High School

To celebrate Book Week Scotland first year pupils’ were visited by Gill Arbuthnott who is the author of numerous fiction, non-fiction and picture books for children and young adults. Book Week Scotland is an annual celebration of books and reading that takes place across the country. Gill was very engaging with the pupils’ and they all thoroughly enjoyed her visit. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Blether’.
