NIL BY MOUTH WORKSHOP

A group of S3/S4 pupils attended an anti-sectarianism workshop in the school’s assembly hall, on Tuesday 29th November, as part of their Literacy project.   The workshop was delivered by Nil by Mouth Scotland, the country’s leading charity for challenging sectarianism.   All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the informative talk.

XL/DUKE OF EDINBURGH GROUP REHIS TRAINING

On Monday 28th November the school’s XL/Duke of Edinburgh pupils attended at REHIS training day at the Forgewood community Centre which was organised by Craig Allan of the Forgewood Community Co-operative.   All participants enjoyed learning about food hygiene and safety with pupils passing the exam to earn a REHIS qualification.  The group now hope to develop their skills even further by embarking on a first aid course.

MSP VISIT

On Monday the 28th of November Higher Modern Studies, History and Geography pupils had the opportunity to meet with their MSP, Clare Adamson.  All pupils approached the opportunity enthusiastically, relishing the chance to ask thought provoking and challenging questions.  Mrs Adamson was engaging, taking the time to listen to and answer the questions of pupils.  Lauren McKinstry, S6, said; “It was really interesting having the opportunity to ask an MSP the questions young people want to know, and finding out the roles they have and their different views on the local area.”  Linzi McFarlane, S6, also said; “I enjoyed the visit from our local MSP.  I found it very helpful because it gave me the opportunity to get information about the issues that I feel are important.  As always all pupils were a credit to Braidhurst High School.

PSYCHIC NIGHT

The Braidhurst Parents’ Group hosted a successful Psychic Night fundraiser at Motherwell Football Club’s Centenary Suite last Thursday evening.   The event was attended by over 100 guests and included a session from a medium, refreshments and an excellent raffle.   Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and most importantly the group raised over £800 for vital school funds.

Achieving Success

A group of S4 pupils, who are part of the Achieve course, decided to organise events to raise money for charity.  The first of these events was a Staff Vs Pupils football match.  The event was held at lunchtime, with pupils paying £1 to witness the spectacle.  This turned out to be a great success with £84 being raised.  This will be split between St. Andrew’s Hospice and the Les Hoey Dream Maker Foundation.  Well done to all involved.  The pupils hope to follow this up in the future with a charity quiz event.

BRAIDHURST PARENTS’ GROUP PSYCHIC NIGHT

The Braidhurst Parents’ Group Psychic Night is fast approaching.   The event will take place in Motherwell Football Club’s Centenary Suite on Thursday 24th November 2016 at 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start.   The highlight of the night is sure to be the two sessions delivered by a medium from the Psychic Centre in Glasgow which will give guests the chance to connect to the spirit world.   There will be an interval in between sessions where guests can enjoy tea, coffee and cakes plus a raffle with fantastic prizes will be drawn on the night.   Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased in person at the school or by calling 01698 274999.   The event will raise essential money for the school fund.
