New timetable tomorrow

Get excited – the new timetable starts TOMORROW (04/05/20). Paper copies of your timetable were sent out by post on Friday so keep a look out for the postman if yours hasn’t arrived yet. If you need to make changes to your options, please follow the instructions on the letter.

Remember to log into your GLOW email and Teams at least once every day from Monday and complete all tasks on-time, to the best of your ability. If your still having issues with GLOW contact us here

Daily update

Not long until the new timetable begins. By now ALL pupils should have logged into GLOW, checked their email and downloaded/ accessed Teams. For help with this – click here

We understand that online learning very new for some pupils (and parents) and has its difficulties/ challenges however pupils should do their best/ make as much effort as they can over the next few weeks so that they are ready for the new academic year ahead.

This means that from Monday 4th May, pupils should be logging into GLOW, Teams etc – everyday! We understand this might not be possible during school hours however some of the tasks that teachers set may have deadlines (just like in school) therefore they should try their best to complete the work set by the deadline.

Timetables were posted out to all pupils today (Fri 1st May 2020). If you are not returning to school and have a confirmed destination, please email Mrs MacDonald to let her know (contact details sent out with timetables).

New timetable… 4 days

Over the next few days teachers and departments who are using Microsoft Teams may add pupils to a new team. ALL pupils should make sure they can access these teams however please don’t worry if nothing has been posted yet… as the new timetable doesn’t start until Monday.

Some teachers/ departments maybe be using GLOW email (outlook), twitter or their school webpage to communicate with pupils, set tasks and so on.

New Timetable… 5 days to go

In preparation for our return to school (whenever that may be) we will start our new timetable “virtually” on MONDAY 4th May 2020.

Over the course of this week, pupils should make sure they can access GLOW – for help with usernames and passwords click here

Pupils should be familiar with Office 365, check their email (email) and if possible, download the team’s app and turn on notifications. For help with this – click here

New class timetables will be issued by post very soon, along with info on the process for changing options should you need to do so.

We would normally start our new timetable for S1-3 at the beginning of May and the S4-6 around the beginning of June, however given these unprecedented times we have decided to move all of this forward.

In preparation for our return to school (whenever that may be) we will be begin our new timetable on MONDAY 4th May 2020.

Online learning will continue for the foreseeable future and therefore pupils should make sure they can log into GLOW and access Microsoft Teams.

Speakers for Schools: S4-S6 Pupils

We are pleased to announce the schedule for the Speakers for Schools- Virtual Talks programme for the week commencing 27th April 2020.

Students will be able to hear from today’s leading figures, such as:

  • Monday 27th April, 10am: Richard Murrell, Lead Director, BBC News. Ever wondered what it takes to make news programmes? Richard Murrell will explore with students what a broadcaster does and what you might expect from the job role.
  • Tuesday 28th April, 10am: Marco Bertozzi, Vice President for Europe, Spotify. Marco will be interviewed by SFS and answer questions submitted by students on topics ranging from creating your CV, getting your foot in the door for work experience or a job, developing your personal brand and practical tips on how to get started with preparing your social channels for career success.
  • Thursday 30th April, 10am: Penguin Talks in Collaboration with SFS – How to boss your mood. Chloe Brotheridge (Clinical Hypnotherapist and author of The Anxiety Solution) and Sara Milne Rowe (Performance Coach, founder of Coaching Impact and author of The SHED Method). Chloe and Sara will kick-off the Virtual Penguin Talks series by sharing their expertise and practical tips for managing anxiety and taking control of your mood during these uncertain times. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive a free audiobook download of The Anxiety Solution and The SHED Method.

All the talks that will be livestreamed. No logins are required and all attendees can stream the talks without downloading Microsoft Teams.

Links should be opened in a browser that is not Internet Explorer. Students can view by clicking WATCH TALK LIVE HERE and then clicking ‘Watch on web instead’ and sign in anonymously. The speakers will appear at the set times e.g. 10am and 2pm.

BGE update from Mr Gardiner

The S1 Exams / assessments which were scheduled to take place this term will be cancelled.

Decisions regarding these along with reports for S1-3 will be taken when further clarity  is received from the Scottish Government regarding the re-opening of schools.

Please stay safe and enagage where you can with the online learning that staff are making avaialble.
