SYMPONY OF SUCCESS

The school hosted a fantastic evening of music, dance and drama on Tuesday 18th June at its annual summer concert, the ‘Symphony of Success’. A packed audience in the school assembly hall thoroughly enjoyed the displays from our very talented pupils, whether it was a solo dance to Beyoncé, a musical medley from our incredible concert band, or an entertaining drama sketch. A highlight of the night featured the school’s wider community as the local primary school choirs from Muir Street and Logans took to the stage together to sing a selection of songs. The school are very proud of its fantastic pupils and would like to thank all school staff who were on hand to make the night roaring success, especially the staff of the Performing Arts department, Miss Donnelly, Mr Crawford and Mrs Reilly.

DARCI BURNS

S4 pupil Darci Burns recently accompanied the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band to the ‘Big Apple’, New York City, to take part in the annual ‘Tartan Day’ parade on Saturday 6th April. This is a fantastic achievement by all the pupils and staff involved, who not only marched down Sixth Avenue as part of the parade procession, but also brought Grand Central Station to a standstill with their rousing version of, amongst other songs, ‘Scotland the Brave’, and appeared on national American television, ‘Fox and Friends’. Well done to Darci on a phenomenal achievement and experience.

ROAD SAFETY CALENDAR COMPETITION

Art and Design pupils were very successful in the recent North Lanarkshire Road Safety Calendar design competition. They put a lot of effort into their designs and came top in their age group. This is a great achievement, considering there were over 2000 entries from schools all over North Lanarkshire. Ethen Smith gained 1st place and was awarded a certificate and a £30 gift voucher. Iona Eldhose gained 2nd place and was awarded a £20 gift voucher. Whilst Ellie Anderson, Laiba Khan and Lennon Newell all were awarded Highly Commended certificates. Well done all!
