On Wednesday (20th) boys and girls we will be holding our first virtual family sports day. Click on the link below and download the ‘virtual sports day grid’. So on Wednesday put on your House colours and have fun with your family! Keep an eye on the school twitter page for a few useful tips before Wednesday and remember to ask your parents to tweet your video and include the hashtag on the link #WPPSSPORTS. Mrs Manning would like you to focus on the reading from the Bug Club resource that I have allocated to your reading group for Week 5 of Term 4. Read the text and download the the assessment work I have set. (You may not be able to type on PDF worksheets) Please try and return completed written work to me by the end of the week. (Word process answers, save and attach to Glow email and send to me or take a picture of completed written work and send in.) I will assess and provide feedback. I can  check and keep a record that you have completed the reading on Bug Club and of your score for the comprehension test for each book.

  • Where are the girl and the dragon? What can they see from this place? What are they looking at?
  • Why are they here?
  • Are they friends? Does the girl own the dragon as a pet? Or does the dragon own the girl as its pet?
  • What species of dragon do you think it is? Is it friendly?
  • Does anyone else know that they’re up here? What might other people say about their friendship?
  • Give this picture a new title. Explain your choices and persuade others that yours is the best title.
  • Write about the adventures of the girl and the dragon.

Volume of a cuboid- (A formula)

Learning Intention: to be able to find the volume of a cuboid using a formula.

To find the volume of a cuboid, you can do so by simply multiplying

                                                                            Length x Breadth x Height

Step 1:

Step 2:
Example:  length (L) = 7cm breadth (B) 5 cm and height (H) of a cuboid
 Formula V (volume)= L (length) xB (breadth) x H (height) to calculate the volume (V)

V=LxBxH

V=7x5x4

V= 140 cm3 (140 cm cubed)

Step 2:
Now try the examples below and remember to write out exactly as above- no skipping steps!! You may use a calculator.

Learning Intention: to be able to measure and draw using cm and mm.

This week boys and girls you are going to be practicing using your ruler to draw lines of certain length. You are also going to be measuring lines using your ruler and recording in cm mm. Read the questions  below carefully as sometimes you are asked to measure in cm and sometimes in mm! Remember to watch the powerpoint first. This will show you what to do!!

Health and Well Being

                                                         SCHOOL VISION, VALUES and AIMS

                                                

We are all really being challenged during this lockdown and one of the biggest challenges for you boys and girls is distance learning!! Our school visions,values and aims is at the heart of everything we do in school and it will help you meet this challenge!

There may be some of your class mates thinking I am really struggling to motivate myself and get my work completed on the class blog or I can’t be bothered I’d much rather watch TV or play a game. As a learning community in our class and in our school we all have to help and support each other.

Activity

So this week I would like you to come up with 3 good pieces of advice that keep you motivated to do your school work.(e.g. set time aside each day, keep to school hours, complete a task each day, get into a good routine, I like to keep busy, I feel I’m achieving something, I enjoy my free time better when I complete a piece of work, I know it is important that I keep learning) etc.

You can display as a poster, picture, powerpoint….I am leaving it up to you. Can you post them on the TEAM page please they can act as an inspiration to us all!
