Week Beginning 22nd June 2020

Boys and girls welcome to our blog for the final week of school in Primary 4/5. Mrs Manning has been so proud to be your teacher this session. In particular, the hard work you have all put in to distance learning. I am sure it has not always been easy to motivate yourselves every week, however you will really benefit in your new classes next session from all the hard work you have put in!!!!

Because it is the final week I am going to make our activitiesa bit different.

Learning Activity 1

         Health and Well Being

                                   RNLI

The RNLI Water Safety Education Manager for Scotland has been in touch with schools because over this spring and summer, they have not able to provide the usual Lifeguard service on beaches or reach out to give safety advice at schools, and events. As we make our phased way out of lockdown, people will be heading to the coast, beaches, lakes, lochs and rivers.   The RNLI is called to help thousands of people in difficulty in or close to the water every year and we need everyone to help us to save lives.

RNLI Spot the Dangers Posters

Key points
• The biggest danger when going into the water outside is the COLD. Falling into the cold water
gives the body a shock which makes it difficult think, breath & swim.
• Remember open water is not like a swimming pool – the water is always moving.
• Playing near the edge can be dangerous.
• There might be dangers under the water – rocks / rubbish / depth of the water
• Don’t use an inflatable, they are easily blown out to sea.

NOW TRY AND ANSWER THE QUESTION BELOW
Q. What potential hazards could be in the water?

I HAVE ALSO PUT SOME LINKS BELOW FOR YOU TO HAVE A LOOK AT!!
