Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

As of 1 January 2016, the First Minister announced that the income thresholds for EMA will increase as follows:

  • Increase in household income threshold from £20,351, if 1 dependent child in the household to £24,421,
  • Increase in household income threshold from £22,403, if more than 1 dependent child in the household to £26,884

The new thresholds apply to all young people who fall within the EMA age eligibility outlined in the EMA application form and leaflet.

An application form can be obtained from the school office or the Council’s Customer Service Centre in Clyde Square, Greenock (01475 712844).
