Literacy and English
This term primary 7 are exploring punctuation and how to apply this in our writing. Functional writing is also a focus this term and we will be creating powerpoint presentations about World War II. We are reading The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas which is set during World War II. We will continue to analyse a variety of cross curricular texts through reciprocal reading where we will apply clarifying, summarising and questioning skills. Staff from the English department at Clydeview will also visit to support us with our learning and transition to high school.
Numeracy and Maths
We will be investigating mental subtraction strategies through Number Talk time and will be learning about the properties of 2d and 3d shapes. Fractions (simplifying/equivalent/mixed and improper) will also be a topic this term. We will build on last term’s decimal topics by exploring addition/subtraction/division/multiplication of decimals in more depth. We will continue to develop problem solving strategies through our weekly problem solving investigations. Mr Connelly from Clydeview Maths department will also visit to support our learning with fractions/ decimals/ percentages.
Primary 7 will participate in Booze Busters sessions this term and are already enjoying learning more about World War II. They will participate in a World War II workshop in December. Our P.E topics this term are gymnastics and hockey. We will continue supporting our primary 1 buddies with buddy time on a Friday afternoon. Anti-bullying week takes place on the week beginning the 11th November and pupils will take part in a variety of cross curricular activities related to this.
