Primary 5a with Mrs Nicolson
Summary of Learning
In Reading this term we are focussing on: Predicting what a text may be about before we start reading it, linking what we read to our own experiences, explaining the difference between fact and opinion and recognising fiction and non-fiction texts and their features. In Writing, P5a are focussing on Recount texts.
For Numeracy P5a are investigating Place Value, Estimating and Rounding, and ordering numbers. We are going to develop our adding and subtracting skills. We will explore 12 and 24 hour time and how to convert between the two. We will also consider Maths and its impact on the world.
Our IDL topic this term is All About Me and Emotional Literacy. We will be focussing on our strengths and skills and thinking about our goals to improve. We will also explore different emotions and how they can affect the way we behave. We will develop ways of coping with emotions and this will lead into out PE lessons as we work on team games and emotions we deal with when playing competitive sport. We will also investigate emotions through Art and look at famous examples of these. This term we will also participate in Drama lessons.
PE Days
P5a will have PE on Thursday (outside) and Friday (inside).
Remember appropriate clothing for these days and remove jewellery.
