Primary 5a with Mrs Nicolson
Summary of Learning
In Reading this term we are focussing on: Predicting what a text may be about before we start reading it, Clarifying the meaning of unfamiliar words, creating Questions based on the text we have read, and Summarising our text in our own words. In Writing, P5a are focussing on Recount texts.
For Numeracy P5a are investigating Place Value, Estimating and Rounding, and ordering numbers. We are going to develop our adding and subtracting skills. We will explore 12 and 24 hour time and how to convert between the two. We will also consider Maths and its impact on the world.
Our IDL topic this term is Emotions through Inside Out. We will explore different emotions and how they can affect the way we behave. We will develop ways of coping with emotions and this will lead into out PE lessons as we work on team games and emotions we deal with when playing competitive sport. We will also investigate emotions through Art and Music and look at famous examples of these.
PE Days
P5a will have PE on Tuesdays (inside) and Fridays (outside).
Remember appropriate clothing for these days and remove jewellery.
